100-word drabbles, inspired by FernWithy, one of my favourite fanfic authors. These two are on the theme: The First Hogwarts Letter.

Luna

When he apparated home, Luna was waiting at the fireplace.

"I got a letter from Mummy today, Daddy."

What?

Her dreamy look was hard around the edges. "'Dear Luna," she recited, "I want to be near you always. I will never send you away from me. Love, Mummy.'"

Again, that hint of fear hardening her voice. What could it be?

Then it came to him. "Did you get any other owls today, darling?"

She went stiff. "Other owls?"

"I thought your Hogwarts letter might have arrived today."

She turned away, nearly nonchalant. "Oh. That."

Dennis

"Did I break any?" Dennis asked, eyes closed, teeth clenched, hands waving at the bottles.

"No," said Colin, woebegone. What if they didn't let Dennis come to Hogwarts? "Try slamming the door, maybe it's easier."

Instead, Dennis sighed heavily and started drumming his fingers on the counter. Colin looked out of the window.

The drumming was getting irritating. "Stop it, Dennis."

The drumming went on.

Colin turned and looked. A couple of forks were dancing on the counter by themselves, beating out a nervous rhythm.

"I can't," said Dennis, gaping stupidly.

Colin's face split into a huge grin. "Brilliant!"
