Broken

Disclaimer: I don't own these characters, but if I did I'd hand them over to people who write them better than I do. No infringment intended.
Set: No real spoilers, but in my head this was set somewhere in Season 5 Angel, after Origin.
Summary: Three people fall into bed. It's seldom happy. Rated PG, or possibly PG-13...
Feedback: Yes, yes please.
A/N: Another short ficlet from the girl who can't really write anything long without fear of never, ever finishing. This is somewhat an unusual threesome and was inspired by and written for the livejournal community Buffyverse1000 ) which is presently collecting a thousand ficlets of any length all with different pairings within the BtVS and AtS fandoms.

They don't mean to. They never imagined the possibility. But once they've fallen into bed together, there's no other thought than this; than them. Awkward conversations couldn't have lead up to this and strangely enough neither did alcohol. There's no physical aphrodisiac that could lead them down this path, but then there's no aphrodisiac more powerful than need and all three writhing bodies understand this.

Love is in the equation, and it hurts. Because Wesley loves Angel loves Buffy loves Angel loves Wesley and none of them understand what exactly is drawing Wesley to Buffy and vice versa but they're sure at least that love doesn't equal into that. They aren't sure if that makes it harder or easier, actually. It still hurts, though, because nobody is sure who's most loved and who isn't.

The sex is wonderful, and this is something the three of them understand from experience. Is it why they do it? Who knows. Buffy is sure she's getting closer to Angel, is afraid of getting too close. Thought maybe the addition of Wesley would curb Angelus, thinks still that Wesley is the one invited to her and Angel's bed. She isn't exactly sure whether she can admit to herself that deep down she's knows otherwise.

Wesley doesn't know what to think. He learnt through Lilah that sex isn't love. No, that's not true; he learnt through Lilah that even if you have both love and sex it isn't perfect. Thinks for a second in tune with Buffy. Maybe he's involved as restraint, the one reminder that Angel can never be truly happy again, after what Wesley caused. It breaks his heart because he's in love again, completely, and he still can't find his bliss.

Angel can't love anybody completely anymore. Isn't sure whether to try. Knows Buffy is his fairytale. Isn't sure he believes in those anymore. Knows Wesley is his humanity. Isn't sure he believes in that anymore either, not for himself. He cannot figure out why having the two people he's in love with in bed, touching him and each other, is tearing him apart.

They don't mean to be broken. But they are.
