A Naruto Drabble: Uchiha Sasuke / Haruno Sakura pairing
Author's jibberish: My first Naruto fic. Prepare for the crap-fest.
She sat up, pulling up the blanket to cover her chest. She watched as he rummaged around in the dark, trying to stay quiet as he collected his things. "Sasuke…"
He turned to her and said, "Go back to sleep. It's still early." He found his vest that he took off the night before and put it back on. He checked all his pockets, making sure everything was packed.
"I know," she sighed. "It's just… I sleep better with you here."
"Maybe you should stay with Ino. You'll have company."
But she shook her head at him. "I want to be home when you get back."
"I'll be three days."
A hint of sadness crossed her face but still she managed to smile. "I can wait."
She had always been waiting patiently. And she was always ready when he returned, with a warm meal and the first aid kit to patch up his wounds. He crossed the room to stand before her. His fingertips touched her forehead, grazing her skin, brushing her bangs away. He looked at her with dark eyes as his fingertips touched the apple of her rosy cheeks. "I'll be back, Sakura," he said to her.
She only nodded and said, "Be safe" as he walked out the door.
