A Small Thanks

It was nearly nine at night and Ichigo wasn't home yet, and frankly, Rukia was getting annoyed. Not worried, just annoyed.

It was bit comical how she would keep peering out of the closet door every time she heard the sounds of footsteps approaching Ichigo's room. And as it became apparent that the particular person approaching wasn't Ichigo, she would glare in annoyance at the door before moving back into the darkness of the closet.

She knew that she had no real reason to be annoyed. She should have been grateful. Not only had Ichigo agreed to cover her shinigami duties, he had also let her stay in his room, although she hadn't given him a choice on either of those.

Suddenly, a question came unbidden into her mind.

How much did she know about Ichigo?

And so she pondered this. Did she know when his birthday was? Did she know what songs he liked to listen to? What books he liked to read? What he liked to eat? She didn't know any of these.

But shouldn't friends know these things about each other? After a momentary pause, she realized that Ichigo probably knew even less about her. In fact, at times, it seemed as if Ichigo was annoyed of her. At times, it seemed as if her presence was a nuisance.

But once in a while, he would smile, they would share a laugh, and everything would be okay again. That was how it was and Rukia didn't mind it at all. She was grateful, and tonight, she wanted to do something to show her thanks. Slowly, an idea formed in her mind.

The next morning, Ichigo would be appalled to find that someone had redone his math homework. A someone who evidently happened to like bunnies as they were drawn at the end of every single problem. He turned his glare sharply towards Rukia, only to find that she wasn't looking at him. Sighing, he tried to erase the picture of the big fat "F" on his homework out of his mind.

At least she tried to do something for him. And with that thought, Ichigo's lips formed a smile.

Next time, he would ask Rukia to do his Japanese homework instead (1).

If I remember correctly, Japanese was the only subject Rukia passed on the exams. Correct me if I'm wrong though XD
Hopefully, someone will find this fic to be um... readable (sigh)
