A/N: OKie dokie everyone, this is me writing a one shot in attempt to destroy my writer's block. It hasn't really worked, but I kinda like the way this turned out, so I'll post it anyways. I think it's pretty obvious who's talking, but if it's not...it's Sasuke. I don't really have anything else to say, except that this is very fluffy shounen ai. Don't like, leave. Do like, stay. Now that I've said this, time for the fic.

Moment

We're lying on the grass, staring up into the nothingness of the autumn sky. She is on my right, as close as she thinks I will allow. He is on my left, closer then he knows I should allow. But today, I'll let him do anything. It's his birthday. He's sixteen. I glance over at him, wondering if I've mentioned anything yet.

He looks back and smiles. His eyes are clear, bluer than the sky, and his hair stands out, bright and gold against the rich tones of fallen fire. We are surrounded, and he fits perfectly. He's not wearing his usual attire, but is clad instead in a simple black shirt and pants. It's exquisite. He's exquisite.

I never understood until now why I had risked so much for him, or why I had let him come so close to me. But at this moment, as the wind skitters across the ground, bringing a leaf into his hair, I understand. He is the fire to my ice, the light to my dark, the motion to my calm. He is perfect in every way, standing opposite me, or becoming one with me. We balance.

He is still looking at me, his eyes a question. He is about to speak, but I silence him with a rare smile. For a moment, everything is perfect as his fingers lace with mine. We are perfect. And when he kisses me, I let him, forgetting about her, sitting just to my right. His lips are soft and warm, gentle against my own. When we pull away, I whisper quietly, "Happy Birthday, Naruto."

He radiates joy as his features melt into a beautiful portrait of splendor, and we are both silent for a moment. I find myself thinking that nothing could be more perfect, and then he says my name.
