Chapter Two: Letting Go ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
* Where am I? Am I in heaven? This bed is so comfortable, unlike the one at home...*
The girl looked around, she saw silk, gold, and valuables that she has never seen before, and then she met a pair of golden eyes.
"What is this place? How did I get here?"
"This is the castle of the Western lord. You were injured, so I brought you here."
"Then, who are you?"
"My name is Inuyasha, I'm the lord's second son."
"Then who is that...?"
The girl looked at the direction where Sesshomaru once stood, but he was no longer there. Inuyasha turned to that direction as well and he of course didn't see anybody, so he turned to the girl and looked as confused as ever.
"Whom are you talking about? There is nobody there..."
"No, I saw... I saw a pair of golden eyes, and those eyes were so emotionless..."
"Oh, you mean my half – brother. That was Sesshomaru, the ice prince of the Western land."
"Sesshomaru...ice prince..."
Inuyasha turned his attention back to the girl, but the girl's attention wasn't on him, she was deep in thought.
"So, what's your name?"
The girl didn't answer, she was still in deep thought. Inuyasha is mad, nobody has ever dared to ignore him, so he shook the girl back and forth to get her attention.
"I asked you a question stupid. Now answer me!"
The girl was snapped out of her thoughts, she looked at him.
"Did you say something? I'm sorry, but I wasn't paying attention..."
Inuyasha is really mad now, his golden eyes shined with a visual annoyance.
"I asked for your name wench and if you are smart, you'll answer me."
"My name is of no importance, I'm just a common village girl, a girl who lost everything..."
The girl stared out into the distance, Inuyasha was surprised at what she said, but he recovered quickly. There was a knock on the door.
"Come on in..."
A girl walked in and bowed to Inuyasha.
"What do you want?"
The girl pointed to the girl on the bed.
"My lady requests for her presence at dinner tonight."
"Okay, I got the message, now go."
The girl turned and was walking toward the door, but Inuyasha stopped her.
"Wait, go tell Sango that I need her help."
The girl bowed.
"Of course my lord..."
The girl walked out and minutes later, another girl walking in.
"You called Inuyasha?"
"Sango, what took you so long? Can't you be a little faster?"
"Well, excuse me, I'm not the one who has all day to waste. I have duties you know."
"I don't have all day to waste, I have important things to do too..."
"On yeah, like what?"
"Um...um..."
"Thought so, you're so lazy."
"Am not."
"Am too."
"Am not."
"Am too."
The girl on the bed was watching Inuyasha and the girl name Sango arguing with each other. She looked back and forth between them.
"Okay, maybe I am a little lazy, not much, just a little."
"Right, so what do you need my help for?"
Inuyasha pointed to the girl on the bed.
"She is seriously injured, I need you to clean her wounds. Mother want her at dinner."
Sango walked next to the bed and looked at the girl.
* Oh my, what happened to her? *
Sango turned to Inuyasha with a dangerous look in her eyes.
"Did you do this to her Inuyasha?"
Inuyasha looked surprised.
"No, of course not. Sango, I need to ask you something."
"What?"
"Come."
Sango walked next to Inuyasha and he started to whisper something.
"Sango, I need you to find out everything you can about that girl. Her name, where she lived, what happened to her, everything."
"Why can't you ask her yourself?"
"I did, but she wouldn't tell me."
"I see..."
Sango walked back to the bed and extended an arm.
"Shall we?"
The girl studied her for a second or two, and she nodded. The girl took Sango's arm and got off the bed. Together, they walked toward the hot springs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the hot spring, Sango was trying to clean the girl's wounds, but many of her injuries were cut extremely deep and Sango was having a hard time.
* Inuyasha wants me to get the girl to talk, I wonder why. *
Sango looked at the girl who was trying to wash the blood of her skin.
"Hey, I haven't introduced myself yet, my name is Sango."
The girl looked up.
"I know, I heard Inuyasha calling you that..."
Sango was surprised at her quiet voice, she seen the sad look in the girls eyes.
* What happened to her, her voice is so sad...*
Just then, the girl winced at the pain of the wounds.
"Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention..."
"It's okay, it doesn't hurt anyways."
"How did you get these wounds?"
The girl looked away, her eyes looked even sadder than before.
"These wounds... they are nothing, they are nothing compared with the pain I'm feeling. Just days ago, I lived with my family in happiness, in the peace that was never disturbed. Then, one day, a group of thieves forced their way into the village and took everything, killed everyone. I was the only one left alive; I didn't know what to do, so I ran into the forest. I remember that I fainted, then I woke up here."
Sango was touched by her story; she turned the girl around and stared into her eyes.
"I know how you feel, I felt the same way when I lost my family. You feel empty inside don't you, but you must move on."
"No! I don't want to move on, I wish I was dead, I want to be with my family."
The girl buried her face in her hands; tears were flowing down her face. Sango looked at her with great sympathy.
"I'm sorry, but sometimes, you just need to let go of the past and move on. I'm sure your family is happy where ever they are..."
The girl looked up and started to dry her tears.
"Thank you, you made me feel better. I guess I should move on, and you will be the first friend of my new life."
"Sure, that will be great."
Suddenly, Sango frowned in disapproval.
"Sango, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just that I made friends with someone that I didn't even know the name of."
The girl smiled for the first time.
"The name is Kagome..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
