Chapter Four: A New Beginning

Two days later, Kagome woke up in Inuyasha's room, again, but this time, she wasn't surprised. She looked around and found Inuyasha dozing off on a chair next to the bed.
* Are those dog-ears? Are they real? They're so cute! * Thought Kagome as she watched Inuyasha's ears twitching back and forth.
* I think I want to touch them...*
Just as Kagome was reaching for those ears, Inuyasha woke up. They stared at each other. Finally Inuyasha decided to break the silence.
"So you finally woke up. We thought you were dead." Said Inuyasha.
Kagome wasn't very happy to hear that.
"So you thought I was dead? I'll show you dead..." Said Kagome as she leaped at Inuyasha, but he jumped out of the way.
"Wow, you're going fast, can't keep your hands off me, now can you?" Inuyasha smirked.
"Why you..."
There was a knock on the door and the door opened. Lady Izayoi walked into the room.
"Am I interrupting something?" asked the lady with amusement in her voice.
"My lady, of course you're not interrupting anything, actually I'm glad you're here..." Said Kagome as Lady Izayoi lifted an eyebrow at Inuyasha.
"Kagome, I see that you finally woke up, you have been unconscious for last two whole days."
"Thank you for concern my lady, I'm fine now." Replied Kagome with gratitude in her voice.
"I see, well, we have made some decisions for you..." tested the lady.
"What kind of decisions are you talking about?" Kagome questioned.
"Well, we have decided that you will remain with us for the time being and become my personal maid..." Lady Izayoi began.
"Are you sure? After all I'm nothing but a worthless human..." Kagome said with sadness in her voice.
"Of course I'm sure, you'll only work during the morning and the afternoon will be yours to spend. And also you will have the privilege of attending class with Inuyasha and Sesshomaru." Finished the lady.
Kagome didn't know what to say, she nodded and bowed in thanks.
"Thank you my lady, you're too kind..." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Inuyasha didn't like the way the two were ignoring him, he growled to get their attention.
"Hey, I have feelings you know. I feel so hurt by the way you are ignoring me..." Inuyasha puppy dog-ears dropped down against his head.
"Oh Inuyasha! I'm so sorry, I forgot that you were there." Kagome said in a fake, sweet, syrup covered voice.
"You..."
Inuyasha looked like he could kill, but Kagome wasn't going to let him win, she wore a very innocent look.
"Did I do something wrong?" Kagome asked again in that sweet voice.
"Shut up!"
"Are you going to make me?" Kagome challenged.
Lady Izayoi watched the little quarrel between the two and she smiled.
"I guess I'll leave you two alone, have fun." Lady Izayoi walked out of the door and the left the door shut behind her.
Inuyasha and Kagome stared at each other and at the same time, looked away. Looks like they are having a silent battle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A week later, the whole castle are preparing for the arrival of one of the young lords' cousin. Sango and Kagome were assigned to work on his bedroom. And Sango wasn't looking very happy.
"Sango, are you okay? You don't look well." Asked Kagome with concern.
"I'm fine, I just can't believe that pervert is coming back here..."
"Pervert, I thought it was a distant cousin of the young lords that is coming here?" Kagome's curiosity got the better of her.
"That 'distant cousin' is the pervert. His name is Miroku and don't say I didn't warn you, you better watch out for his wandering hands." Sango said sourly.
"Whatever you say Sango..." Kagome answered cheerfully, it seems that she is getting over the lost of her family. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, as the two best friends woke up at the servant's quarter, they can hear a carriage coming toward the castle.
"Oh god, he's here..." signed Sango.
"Who's here?" Kagome asked innocently.
"You know who I'm talking about. It's that pervert, Miroku."
"Oh, I should have known."
"Don't use that sweet tone with me Kagome, but I'll give you a very useful advice. If that pervert ever tries anything, just slap him across the face." Sango told Kagome.
"But if I slap him, wouldn't I get into trouble?" Kagome asked worriedly.
"No, the lord and lady knows of his, um, how do we say, habits?" Sango said sarcastically.
"Well, that's good to know..."
The two girls got up from bed and started the day's work. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Master Miroku, we're almost there." Said one of the coachmen.
"I got the message." Replied Miroku.
The castle is getting nearer and nearer. Miroku stared out of the window and looked at the scenery.
* Well, well, my dear Sango, I have come back for you. It's time to play...* Thought the Miroku as he chuckled to himself.
* This time, there is no escape. * ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
