Gwenivere stood at the castle gate waiting for her husband who had been gone far too long for her taste. Her long emerald green dress billowed behind her as she fidgeted with the golden rope around her waist. Finally, she saw Arthur's company reach the hill. A warm smile spread across her lips.

"How fared thy journey, husband?" She asked formally as Arthur rode up to her.

"The kingdom is safe and thy husband returns to thee." Arthur replied with a light dancing in his green eyes as he stepped from his horse to greet his wife. He took Gwenivere's hand in both of his and kissed it lightly. "How fares my household, wife?"

"Thy house is sound, as always," she said softly, but proudly. Arthur grinned; these formal questions and answers were just games to him and his Gwenivere. He rubbed his thumbs on the back of her hand as he pulled her closer. She had left her long hair down as she knew Arthur liked, and she smiled as he ran the fingers of one hand through her rich auburn tresses.

"I missed you, my Gwenivere." Arthur said softly as he leaned closer.

"And I you," she murmured before his lips found hers. Tender though the kiss was, an electricity passed between them that spoke of what Arthur had planned for his wife.

"I shall not leave your side tonight," he whispered against her lips.

"Hmm," she smiled, "good." Arthur snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her close. He was jolted out of this pleasant moment, however, when Lancelot barked out the commands for the company of troops to lead their mounts to the stables.

Arthur growled, causing Gwenivere to giggle softly. "We shall finish this later, my Queen," he whispered in her ear. He took one of her hands in his and they walked toward the castle door.

Inside, the walls were covered with colorful tapestries that made Arthur beam like a child.

"Do you like them, husband?" Gwenivere asked. Arthur nodded as he looked all around; it had been a little over a year since he had last seen his home in Camelot and Gwenivere had changed much. She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "I saved a special one for our bedchamber." Arthur grinned and kissed Gwenivere's cheek.
