I love you this much

A figure is sprawled across the grass,
His arms open wide.
Soft hair as golden as the sun
Held beauty that could sway the tide.

Before him, the sunset was beautiful
But he did not see.
Unfocused eyes blinded by tears
He would not set free.

For his nonexistent heart was breaking,
He was truly weak, he supposed.
For Malfoys don't break down but here
He was having one of those.

All he wanted was quite simple really.
It wasn't so hard or tough.
All he wanted was to say those five words
Father, I love you this much.

I love you enough to sacrifice what I knew
In my heart was right.
I knew you would disapprove if you
Knew my morality's plight.

I love you enough to hide who I
Truly want to be.
Because I know in your eyes
You would hate the real me.

I love you enough to become
What I hate the most.
And I did it all with a sneer,
An insult and a boast.

But why is it Father, that when I
Love you this much,
You always want more from me
It is never quite enough.

Now the answer had come to him
And it left him broken.
For he had recalled the words
That was long ago spoken.

Draco, you are a Malfoy and that
is something you can't forget
And we'll love you just the way
You are but only if you're perfect.

And so now he knew for sure why he wasn't
Quite ever enough.
He could never be the thing they wanted
He had wasted loving this much.
