Chapter One: The Last Year
"How are you all doing today?" James Potter walked into the compartment were Lily Evans, Constance Grant and Lucille Ng were seated. "We just came on board the train."
"We?" Lily's best friend Lucille Ng said shyly.
"We," Sirius Black said firmly. "How u doing, Constance?'
"Fine," Constance said, peeking up from behind her enormous book. Her hair fell over her face, hiding all of the left side. Sirius bent down and gave her a lingering kiss before sitting down next to her.
"Where is Remus?" Lucille asked, looking James, who had seated himself down suspiciously close to Lily, seconds before Remus entered the room.
"Right here," Remus said, falling into the seat beside Lucille, who looked surprisingly content. Lucille didn't ask much from people, but u could tell when she was sad by her face.
Lucille let her head fall onto Remus's shoulder, who snuck his hand around her waist. Meanwhile, Constance reseated herself on Sirius's lap, who was reading her book with her now.
Lily turned her head towards James, and came face to face with him.
"How's ur mom?" James asked, after kissing Lily lightly on the cheek.
"She's doing ok, coping with dad's suicide. I'm happy she doesn't blame herself for it." Mr. Evans, Lily's father, had committed suicide over the summer break.
"That's good." James whispered, brushing away a tear on Lily's cheek before kissing her deeply. Lily closed her eyes, forgetting that her dad had left her so abruptly. When he ended the kiss, Lily let her lips linger on his mouth, opening her eyes.
"I missed you," she said, letting her head droop on his shoulder as he pulled her into a hug. She jumped when the door swung open, but James didn't let go of her.
"Well lookie here, all of the freaks in one," Severus Snape sniveled as he and his friend Lucius Malfoy stepped into the room, instantly making it feel so crowded.
Sirius gently pushed Constance of his lap, in case he had to get up in a rush. Like wise, James let go of Lily, who understood completely.
"I thought I told you to bug off, Snivelus." James sneered. "Why don't you and your buddy go jump off the train. I guarantee nobody will miss you."
Constance snickered, and Lucius Malfoy stared at her coldly. "Shut up, mudblood."
She instantly stopped, shocked at his boldness. Everybody knew Sirius didn't tolerate anybody who called his friends a mudblood.
"What did u say, Malfoy?" Sirius challenged. Although Sirius hated the word, he came from a wizard family; meaning Malfoy had nothing against him.
"Nothing," Malfoy replied, taking a step back.
"I thought so. Now you and your snot-faced friend better get out of here before you cross the line." Although Constance didn't seem like it, she got very scared when Sirius got angry. "He may lose control and hurt me one day." She had told Lily.
Sneering, Malfoy and Snape walked out, slamming the door behind them. Everybody relaxed, and Sirius sat down. One by one, they were all lulled to sleep by the rocking of the train.
