Title: Calm before the Storm

Spoilers: The Storm

Summary: Sheppard/Teyla. On the ship before they noticed the clouds.

The city began to disappear out of his vision as the Jumper rose high above it and flew across the ever blue sky. He sighed slightly as he switched the Jumper to automatic and spun his chair around slightly to look at his passenger who was currently moving objects around in the back of the ship.

"Teyla, what are you doing?" Major John Sheppard asked of the young Athosian woman, his voice sounding deep in the space of the forward compartment.

She turned to him and smiled slightly, acknowledging his words but did not answer. Instead she moved towards him and leaned against the panel between his seat and that of the co-pilot. He smiled up at her as she stood above him, his heart almost missing a beat as she leaned her head forward and placed it on the front of his.

Sighing slightly he reached his arms up around her neck and held her head there, closing his eyes as he did so. He could feel her breath tickling his lips and he knew his would be doing the same her. He could hear the steady rhythm of her heartbeat; so silent were the engines of the Jumper. Her hair brushed tiny lines on his jaw causing a tickling sensation but no itch could make him wish to move it. Inhaling deeply he could smell the scent of the Athosian soap that she used, combined with a slight layer of… turkey? He smiled slightly and spoke after he breathed out the scent of her.

"It's been too long Teyla," he whispered and opened his eyes, only to find hers staring back into him.

"Yes, John, it has."

Her lips brushed his slightly, and he could feel the familiar softness touch him, felt the same tingling jolt he had the first time they had done this. Too soon were his lips bereft of hers, but he sighed in resignation, knowing that - for now - too long was not long enough.

Eventually, she moved away from him and back into the back of forward compartment, fiddling with one of the boxes strapped to the wall. He sat for a moment considering the reasons why he had to wait and decided that the safety of Atlantis was reason enough. For now. He took one more look back at her before taking the ship off automatic and flying them to the mainland.

"Haven't been to the mainland in a while. How's everyone settling in?"
