Rosie Cotton sat on her bed. She looked out at the full moon and snow that blanketed the earth and sighed heavily.
She went to her dresser and sat down. She picked up her brush and slowly began to brush her curly hair.
"Wish you were here." She began to sing, "Me, oh, my country man.... Wish You Were Here..."
It had been eight long months since she had last seen Sam.
I wonder how he is. I hope he is well, she wondered, continuing her singing.
"I
Wish You Were Here...Don't you know, the snow is getting colder...
And I miss you like hell...
And I'm feeling blue..."
She sighed again and smiled sadly as she thought of his face.
I never told him how I felt...about him. Will I ever get a chance, she wondered
"I've
got feelings for you...Do you still feel the same? From the first
time, I laid my eyes on you...
I felt joy of living...I saw heaven
in your eyes...In your eyes..."
Rosie looked at her refection and studied her face. She touched the wrinkles that were lining her cheeks, mouth, and eyes. Rosie looked out at the window and saw a shooting star and she made a wish, singing it softly, "Wish you were here... Me, oh, my country man... Wish You Were here... I Wish You Were Here..."
Rosie placed the brush on the dresser and went to the window as more snow began to fall.
"Don't you know the snow is getting colder... And I miss you like hell... And I'm feeling blue..."
Rosie
closed her eyes and thought of Bilbos' birthday party and how
joyful Sam was, laughing and telling jokes.
"I miss your laugh,
I miss your smile...I miss everything about you...Every second's like
a minute...Every minute's like a day...When you're far away..."
The
shutter on the outside of the window slammed closed and Rosie opened
it, not wishing to block out the moon light that flooded her room
through the window panes.
"The snow is getting colder, baby...I
Wish You Were Here..."
She went to her bed and pulled the blanket away from the pillows. As she unmade her bed, she thought of what treacheries Sam might be facing and her love.
"A battlefield of love and fear...And I Wish You Were Here...I've got feelings for you..."
She crawled into her feather bed and brought her blankets to her chin. Rosie thought as she fell asleep, "From the first time I laid my eyes on you...."
There was a smile on her lips as she dreamt of her Sam.
