"Why won't you let me help you?" The man in the red coat asked as he pulled his hands tighter into his white gloves and smiled evilly.

"I... I don't... want to." James replied with a wet sounding cough. It was obvious that he was dying, with all the blood that poured out from the various cuts and tears in his flesh. While his speech was muddled, his thoughts were remarkably clear. 'I never thought it'd end this way. I always thought that if I were killed on a hunt it would be quick, not slow like this.'

James looked around the small stone plaza, illuminated only by the full moon which was darkened momentarily by the clouds. 'A vampire offering help to a vampire-hunter? Preposterous!'

Alucard chuckled as he pulled his red hat lower. "Is that really what you want?"

This was a 5/10 minute excercise in my Creative Writing class that I thought I'd share with you readers. There won't be any more to this story, though I am writing another pre-series Hellsing story that will fill in some of the giant backstory holes the anime left us with.

Read, Review, and Be Happy.
