I can see your struggles/
To disguise the tears in your eyes that threaten to spill over/
To hide the pain in your voice/
So you pretend that it doesn't hurt you/
But it kills you inside/
Slowly and quietly/
It makes you want to cry until your insides are sore/
But you can't, you won't/
Because of the professional façade you try so hard to keep up/
For without it, all your past frustrations and distress/
Would be visible to all that saw you/
To everyone else, your desperate efforts go unnoticed/
But I see the raw ache you feel for the victims and I can relate/
Because we went through the same problems/
It is times like these, I regret being only your partner/
And not being able to take you into my arms/
Smooth back your silky hair/
And promise that everything will be alright/
