Swirling snow gathered at the feet of the tall figure. He was wrapped in a cloak that's blackness stood out against the pale backdrop. His hood was down, the wind whipping his ebony hair into his pale face. Still, he remained unmoving.

He watched her, kneeling there in the snow. She ran her fingers over the cold stone, tracing the name of her best friend. She turned and looked at him, her eyes containing a sadness that he knew all too well. They did this every year, on the anniversary. They would leave the children in the supervision of their grandparents and ride the train all the back to Hogsmeade. After disembarking, they would walk, hand in hand, to the cemetary that lay just inside Hogwarts gates.

She would leave him then, at the edge of the path. She would walk slowly down to the tall marble and granite monument, clutching flowers to her chest tightly. Laying the boquet of white lillies at its base, she would sit and talk to him. The memories would flow through her, making her smile. She would tell him about the children, how they were growing up so fast. She talked to him about Ron and his excitement over Luna's pregnancy. And she talked to him about Severus, how she loved him with every fiber in her being.

When she stood up, she placed a kiss agaist the headstone, the icyness of the rock freezing her lips. Then she turned and headed back. When she reached him, he enveloped her in his arms and kissed her softly. "It's been a long time," she whispered, laying her head against his chest.
"Yes, it has," he murmered, his lips in her hair. "But I'm sure he appreciates the sentiment, just as I'm sure he appreciates Ron's gift of chocolate frogs." She giggled at that, lifting her head to look at him. His obsidian eyes smiled at her, though his mouth only twitched. "I still say Harry would turn over in that great tomb of his if he could see you in the arms of the evil Potions Master."
"Yes, and I can only imagine what he would say if he knew we had four children together. But I know he would want me to be happy," she said as she glanced back.
"And are you?"
She turned back to him and answered by pressing her mouth to his. He returned the kiss, pulling her closer as he deepened it. A few moments later, they seperated and she smiled brilliantly at him. "I am now. Let's go home, Severus."

WIth that, the couple turned and made their way home. Somewhere up above, a slim raven-haired man with glasses and a lightning scar was watching them, smiling.

A/N: This was written about a year ago. I had hesitated to put it up, the time just didn't feel right. But now seemed like a good time to put it up. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you get a chance, please look at my other work. Oh, and I know I sound all distant and melancholy, not at all like my usual self. But I am feeling a little down lately. Personal and family problems are just making me depressed. So sorry if that came out in this piece. Review if you are so inclined. Thanks!
Ciao!
