Authoress' Note: Hi there. My name's LilStripedTomato. I'm new to ff.n, so please be kind. I wrote this to express my thoughts and feelings on Christopher Reeves, and his tragic passing. There is not a category for the Superman movies, so I put it here. I would have uploaded this sooner, but my computer crashed, my roommate's not exactly Mr. Technology. I'd appreciate any thoughts you have, so please review!
The Real SupermanSome say you were brave, never giving up hope.
Some say you were kind, always giving hope to others.
Some say you were just a man.
And some just call you Superman.
Some say you were a gift, helping to find a cure
Some say you were a miracle, sent from above to inspire.
Some say you were just a man.
And some just call you Superman.
Some say you were an artist, painting the world with your heart.
Some say you were an inspiration, showing us life.
Some say you were just a man.
And some just call you Superman.
You were just a man, and yet so much more.
You were brave, kind, a gift, a miracle, an artist, an inspiration, and a hero.
You were a true Superman, of the average, everyday sort.
You were a hero to those who knew you and those who didn't.
Now, you are still all of those things, and more.
Now you can again walk through flowery fields.
Now you can again soar through those blue skies.
Now you can do anything.
Why?
Because, you are Superman, not just in life, but always.
And you will forever be a hero in our hearts.
"I believe that the real heroes today are ordinary people who persevere and endure against overwhelming obstacles." Christopher Reeve
Heroes don't have to wear spandex and capes, or be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, they're people, just like you and me. Christopher Reeves was a true hero, and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this tragic time. He brought joy and hope to so may who had needed it, and I think he would want us to remember that joy and smile, and remember his smile. (I always thought it was his best feature.) Yes, he was just a man, but so are all heroes. What makes them heroes is what's inside their hearts. I was watching a movie with him in it just the other day. I can't recall the name of it, but it was where these alien children try to take over a town and Christopher sacrifices himself to stop them. It was a great movie, and he was a hero in it. But you don't have to save people and blow yourself up to be a hero. He was a hero in real life, and I hope people will remember that, not just the man in the cape. And I hope that, wherever he is, he is happy, and seeing how many people's lives he touched. He is still a real Superman.
