Once Upon A Full Moon

Chapter 1: Searching For A Place To Belong

The dark-haired girl tossed and turned in her mattress, drenched in sweat. Her dark, maroon eyes clenched tightly together. Rays of moonlight seeped past the blinds and shone on her pale skin.

Bri looked around herself, darkness surrounding her whole body. Shadows danced along an invisible wall, they taunted her, pointing and laughing. Her sleek body wrapped up in nothing but a bed sheet. Her expression was full of fear, fear of something unknown to her. After she could see that the shadows were pointing at her, a mirror appeared behind her out of the dark. Bri turned around at covered her mouth as she saw her reflection in the mirror. Instead of her usual long dark purple hair and maroon eyes, she had medium raven's black that fell off her shoulders and hazelnut brown eyes, the look of a human. Tears started falling down her now peach like skin as she bent down. Before she could stand up, Bri could hear footsteps. She started turning around slowly when...

Bri threw herself up into a sitting position and cover her face with one hand. "What a nightmare. Thank Kami it was only a..." before she could finish, she saw a strand of black hair fall in front of her face. "Oh God." She gasped and stood up, going over to the mirror across her room. Bri hugged the bed sheet to her naked body as she saw her body, her human body, in the mirror. She walked over to her dressing room and closed the blinds. "How could this have happened?" she questioned herself desperately as she changed into a samurai practice uniform, with a pitch-black ninja suit under.

She fastened her katana to her belt and walked out of the room and towards Naraku's Room. Midway, she stopped herself, remembering his hate for humans. "I-I cant. I have to leave. It's for the best." She told herself and headed out the door into the forest, away from Naraku's Castle. "Must I become a wanderer, or do I face my fate and be killed by Naraku? I'm human now, but that doesn't mean I cant fight." She added, sensing demons nearby.

As she neared the center of the forest, she could hear crying sounds coming from the base of a giant place tree. Bri walked over and saw a pretty young girl crying her eyes out, no one else around. She walked over and bent down near the girl, not able to resist the urge. "Hello, I'm Bri. Why are you crying?" she asked, sitting down next to her. The girl looked up at her with chestnut brown eyes, filled with tears. "My Sesshoumaru-sama and Jaken-sama got separated from me." She choked out and looked at her feet. Bri stroked her hair and hugged the girl lightly, hoping it would comfort her. "It's going to be okay, I'll help you get back to them." She said softly. She could feel the girl hug her back tightly, but her tears had stopped. "Thank you! I'm Rin!" the girl said gleefully looking up at her smiling. "Nice to meet you Rin. Now, Let's go and Sesshoumaru and Jaken." Bri said getting up. "Okay!" Rin obeyed and followed up after her. "Now, you have to hold my hand so that you don't get lost." She said, holding out her hand. Rin nodded and took her hand tightly in hers.

While they walked, Rin questioned Bri intensely, probably out of boredom, Bri thought. She could answer all of Rin's questions easily like, "Why is the sky blue?" but there was one question, that took her quite a long time. "Why are you raveling?" Rin asked, looking at her. Bri thought very hard for about 10 minutes before she could answer with a solid answer. "Just searching for a place to belong."
