Song to the Old Forest

The trees of old have lost their ways

Now seldom do they speak

No more they trust the wanderers

That travel at their feet

The dryads gone and faeries blown

Into the woodlands deep

From the days ago and forests of old

The sunlight stretches still across

The blue and cloud filled sky

The water runs in shining streams

Passing merrily on by

With shining leaves of green and gold

Against the azure sky

Back in the days ago and forests of old

What happened to the majesty

And grace of forests old?

The dignity they all once had

'Twas beauty to behold

The twisted roots and gnarled limbs

Now make one's blood run cold

Where are the days ago and forests of old?

Now one day in the future near

The dryads may come back,

The nymphs and faeries once again

May sing and dance and laugh

But for now the magic's gone

The sunlight has turned black

Mourn for the days ago and forests of old.
