A DARK ALTERNATIVE: PROLOGUE

"You've failed your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

Luke Skywalker gestured towards his dying father behind him, who was the evil lord Darth Vader. The Emperor's face turned to an expression of disgust as he muttered these words with undeniable coldness.

"So be it…Jedi."

Palpatine spoke as if he should have never uttered the word Jedi, as if it should've been forgotten long ago. He slowly brought his hands up to his shoulders and pointed them at the triumphant Luke.

"If you will not turn, you will be destroyed."

From his pointed fingertips a blast of electric energy shot forward at the young Jedi, who collapsed on the floor, writhing and screaming in pain. The sudden cackle and surging of the lightning alerted Darth vader, who stood up beside his Emperor. Palpatine stopped the attack for a moment and smiled evily.

"Now, young Jedi, you will die."

His expression instantly became filled with rage once again, as Luke screamed "Father, please." between the babble and shouts of pain. The evil lord looked back from his Emperor to his son, and back again.

No, my son. You had a chance to become powerful. We could have ruled. But you ignored. You ignored the emperor's offer. And now you will meet your destinty.

With a final burst of terror, Luke fell silent on the metal floor. His skin now completely charred, and his face forzen in pain. The boy was dead.

Palpatine raised an eyebrow, as if sensing something he waved to Vader, and the black suited villan followed him as the two made their way to the elevator.

"Gaurds." The emperor yelled. "Alert the staff throuhgout the Death Star. Tell them to evacuate. Tell the starfleet to make thir escape as well. Come Lord Vader, there is a shuttle waiting.

So, your dead brother has betrayed you Leah. My success with you shall make up for my failure with him. I am coming for you.

The door closed and the elevator lowered itself towards the main hangar........
