Can I Call You Mine?

Chapter One: Ego bruised

Charms class. Pretty boring as James describes it. He was lurching on his chair wishing something ecstatic would happen that would awaken back his senses. And as if whatever-it-is heard him, the big wooden door opened and all eyes looked at who the intruder was.

"Professor, sorry I was late. Professor Dumbledore called me." Said the intruder. A female intruder to be more specific. James looked at her with a grin. He never saw her before. James wondered who she was.

She was somewhat pretty in a simple way. Not wearing any make-up and all. Just her natural self. She has long straight auburn red hair and gentle emerald green eyes which was looking at Professor Binns, hoping she would be considered.

"Well then, Miss--?" the professor said, asking for her family name.

"Evans, Lily, professor." She replied. Professor Binns nodded his head, which signaled she could get in. "Thank you." James heard her say as she passed him to take the vacant seat next to him.

This is something. James beamed. The player in him wanted to get out. And as the Lily settled herself next to him, he waste no further. He was smiling at her, hoping to get noticed.

Ok.

She was just looking at the professor babbling about the counter-curse of a tickling spell. That topic is plainly stupid. Could she just look at m—

"Please stop grinning." She finally said and faced the red faced James. "Can't you see I'm paying attention to the discussion?"

James mouth was forming an 'oh'. He never had this reaction from a girl he just grinned at! In fact they would immediately fall for him! This Lily Evans is somewhat...different. Being kick back by hi ego to his senses, he regain his composure and snorted.

"Like as if I was looking at you." OK. That was pretty lame.

"Coz you didn't?" she snapped, which meant end of discussion. Period.

James mouth was open, ready to retort but it would be shameful if he was cursing words and nobody's listening to him. Right?

Bloody hell. Poor Jamesie cursed inside his head and lurked back on his seat.

"Oi! Padfoot! Over here, mate!" called James as he got out of Charms classroom, waving his hand, violently, in mid-air. Before he could run and keep up with the boy named Padfoot, somebody tapped James' softly on the shoulder.

"What now?!" he snapped and then turned around to see Lily Evans looking at him angrily. Oops.

"How rude can you be?" she said, her green eyes fiery. "Here I was hoping to apologize for my impatience during class that I, unintentionally, oh-wait, intentionally smacked you with some words that I know that wounded your ego!"

By this time, students were watching them and the guy named Padfoot came to see what the commotion was all about.

"See Lillian—"James began but was cut off.

"Li-ly, Potter. Or even just call me with my last name, Evans." She smiled, fakely.

James grinned broadly. "What are you grinning at?" snapped Lily.

"I didn't think you would remember my name." he teased. Lily went red.

"You big-headed, ill-mannered git!" Lily said, angrily. James laughed hard but stopped when Lily Evans did something that no one ever did.

Guess what?

She slapped James across his face.

And that's when Lily Evans started to hate James Potter. During they're 4th year. And that's the same year when James' ego was first wounded.

But little do they know that in the future, something unexpected would happen to both of them.
