White Flag

Ayame sat on a cliff dangling her legs over the edge. She let out a heavy sigh. Out of sheer boredom she caused some nearby leaves to dance around. After a moment she let them drop.

"Koga" she whispered. She layed back on the round as dusk approached. "The whole tribe tells me just to find a nice mate and settle down, have some pups. I don't want another mate Koga. I want you. I love you" she whispered to the sky.

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

"I told you I wouldn't bother you. I won't try to make you remember what you promised me" tears rose to her eyes. She tried her hardest not to cry.

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
or return to where we were

"I do still love you Koga. I always will. I'm not going to give in and find myself another mate." Ayame promised. She whished he could here her. Or the gods would here her or someone important.

I will go down with this ship

"I know that you think it's because of me that Kagome choose Inu-Yasha over you." She could still see how angry Koga was with her. She half expected him to hit her. But he just growled and ran off.

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again

"I remember when you told me not to cry over what was never there. But I can't Koga. There was something there." She told herself.

And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

"There still is" she said as she sat up. Leaves fell softly and the wind stirred her hair.

A wind that wasn't there before. She quickly dried her eyes. Koga was there.

And when we meet
which I'm sure we will

He looked just the same as she remembered. Only he looked happy.

All that was there
will be there still

Neither one spoke. The silence was long and awkward. Ayame flipped her hair over her shoulder nonchalantly.

I'll let it pass

"Ayame" he whispered softly, almost kindly. "Yes Koga?" she replied in a very buisness like manner. "I love you" he whispered. He pulled her into a hug. "And I'm sorry" he told her. He gave her a kiss. Ayame gave in not being able to resist the one she loved so much.
