"Caitie?" Jamie asked her as he sat beside her. He noticed then that Val and Tyler were in worse condition than she was. Tyler hadn't removed his focus from Hank, and Jamie instantly knew.

"Hank, we need to-I can't..." Val sobbed into Tyler's shirt. He rose, grasping her hand as he stood.

"Hank, the Explorer, it was your dad."

"The Explorer? But, I-oh my... No."

"He, um, he died on the way here. I was with him, Hank. He asked me to tell you he loved you." Tyler was crying now, and Hank was with him, falling to the floor in a sobbing heap. He curled himself into a ball and Tyler put his arms around his longtime friend. Val helped him pull Hank to the chair. She looked into Tyler's eyes and saw the same pain she felt.

"I'm gonna call Jasmine," she whispered. Tyler nodded his assent, and she rushed to the phone. Caitie was curled up on the small couch, apparently asleep, with her head on Jamie's chest. Hank was leaning off the chair, looking sicker than ever. It was only ten minutes before Jasmine arrived, and she took Tyler's place next to Hank. He stared at her, not moving or speaking.

"How long has he been like this?" Jasmine asked Val and Tyler.

"Since I called you. We wanted to take him to see a doctor, but I think it'd be better if you did."

"Yeah, c'mon, Hank." He rose with her and leaned his head on her shoulder.

"Bye," Tyler and Val whispered. Jamie and Caitie had both fallen asleep. The doctor hadn't come out yet, so Tyler once again sat down at the chair.

"You wanna go home? I'll wait."

"Nah. Let's send these two on, though. I'll wait with you. Caitie, Jamie, c'mon, wake up." The pair sleepily awoke.

"Hmm?"

"Let's get you guys home. I'll take you, then come back and wait with you, Tyler." He nodded. Jamie was in no shape to try and pilot his motorcycle, not to mention how hard it would be to get it out of the bay at the EMS station.

"Where's your car?"

"At the station, Mom's bringing it. She'll drive you guys home, and me to the station, we're off now. I called her and Alex."

"All right. See you later, Jamie. Caitie. Later." The three teenagers left the ER exit, looking as ragged as they felt. Tyler knew now it was going to be a long night, so he left to the soda and snack machines to load up on extra caffeine and sugar. He and Val would need it.
