Commander Adama has just promised them a refuge from the Cylons. He has promised them a new home. He has promised them Earth.
Adama proves his words with a blurred image.
It is enough.
And he swears them to this dream with the ritualistic end line of every prayer, "So say we all," until the muted replies grow in strength and become a confident cry. Before the Lords of Kobol, they pledge a vow to life and to Earth.
Here they stand united in grief and loss, and from despair a future is born. They'll follow him wherever he leads.

A drabble-like ficlet based on BSG 2003
November 2004
While all around her people hug each other, overjoyed and weeping, anger rises in President Laura Roslin.
This has come unexpectedly.
Adama has promised a refuge from the Cylons. He has promised a new home: Earth, the mythical Colony.
With a clever move, a single question to priest Elosha and her affirmative answer, his cause appears to have the support of priesthood and therefore the blessing of the Lords.
Laura knows his question was rhetorical, knows that he knew the answer in advance.
Adama has also abused the ritualistic end line of every prayer, "So say we all," for his means, to pledge them to a nonexistent cause. And again he linked the mission to the Lords. This is a holy mission now. Everyone who opposes him in this matter would cause a riot. With this speech he has strengthened his position and made his person indispensable.
And the civilian government, right now herself, will have to arrange its right to rule with him. Part of her admires him for the way he has raised their confidence, the larger part of her is furious.
And she has suspicions and fears.
Laura fears that despite Adama's earlier assurance he still strives for a military coup.
She knows that his promise of Earth is a lie.
The question is, should she oppose him or cooperate with this quest?
