Disclaimer: I don't own the movie or the candies, except for my personal VHS copy and the bags I occasionally get at the store. Am not making any money off of this, so leave me alone.

Author's Note: It always boggled my mind that Eddie was a doctor and yet he was as dumb as a post. So I decided to write this little blurb and see if I could stop caring about two scenes in the movie, since overall it is a cute film.

The Doctor and his Mrs. settled comfortably in their usual spot that Bert had saved for them. They were waiting for the black and white movie to start playing on the wall some fifty feet away. It was one of their little rituals to come here together. Just as was the sorting of the bag of peanut M & Ms Mary had just pulled from her coat pocket.

Since the park was a bit more crowded than usual, Mary simply dropped the more colorful of the candies instead of chucking them a distance away.

"What did the poor M & Ms ever do to you?" Eddie asked teasingly.

They liked to come up with different questions every time for Mary (or him sometimes) to answer each time they played their little game.

"Well," she said lightly, "someone wise once told me that since chocolate is already brown, the brown ones have less artificial coloring."

"That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard," a girl interjected from a nearby blanket before Eddie could respond.

"Excuse me?" Mary demanded haughtily.

She did not like being called stupid.

The girl, who had blue hair and more than five earrings in each ear, picked up one of the M & Ms Mary had dropped, dusted it off on a sleeve, and bit it in half. She held it up so the couple could easily see the white rim around the chocolate that made up most of the candy.

The girl pointed at it with a fingernail that had been painted a very dark purple. "See? Candy coating. Ya know, the reason these things 'melt in your mouth, not in your hand'? They dye the candy coating, not the chocolate, so all of them have artificial coloring. In fact, the brown ones probably have more than others cuz it takes more than one color to make brown."

The girl turned back to the wall, which was just now being lit up by the projector, muttering 'idiots' under her breath.

Mary looked at Eddie.

"Oops," he shrugged and picked a red M & M from Mary's hand, popping it into his mouth.

The End.
