The rain pounded on the ceiling and windows, dripping down the glass, each drop leaving its mark. Sprinting down the stairs and heaving open the oak doors, I watched as the rain cascaded onto the grounds. It seemed as if Time was at a standstill. My tears blurred my vision as I closed my eyes and slowly walked into the fog.

The rain was falling so hard, each drop felt like piercing arrows, and the cold felt like I was being stung like ice, yet it warmed me. It all felt relieving to me, so unpredictable when it would all stop. I spread my arms and let my head back, letting myself get drenched by these crystals, falling from the sky. Why was it giving them away? They were so pure... and beautiful.

But I guess I was not beautiful enough. He was only using me... he made feel so special, like the stars in the sky. But tonight, they lay forgotten. They were concealed by the sky's tears, those lonely drops of water, and yet there was no sign of ending. Looking up, it seemed as if forever would no sooner relieve the sky of its sadness and let the stars shine.

My tears had not stopped flowing; they mingled with the rain, soaking my face refreshingly. The rain came even harder, and I collapsed onto my knees, letting it all out, in the middle of this field.

We cried together.

I was shaking form the cold, but I didn't care. I just wanted the stars to shine.

I looked to the towers, where some lights were still on. One in particular. I could make out the silhouette of young man, watching the skies also. I could've sworn I felt him watching me. A light flicked on, and I saw it was him. He looked up, and smiled, then turned off the light.

I lay back onto the grass, and there it was. The source of my hope. The rain had subsided, and I saw a star twinkling in the sky, far away. I smiled; maybe there was hope after all.
