Not despite the fact that she is engaged to another man,
but because of it.
He is allowed now;
to touch what he knows he can never have.
Allowed,
to brush his arm against hers at briefings;
allowed,
to take her hand and help her up, on missions;
it's safe,
to give her a hug when she leaves from their team barbecue...
It's fine.
It's okay.
He's allowed...
but he damn well wishes he wasn't...
