This poem I wrote while watching our marching band at halftime.
They march like soldiers
Ever onward
Onto the field at halftime
Through the heat, rain and wind
At attention
Never distracted, always focused
I want to be one of them
I imagine just how much dedication
That they must put into their shows
To sound great
To please the audience
And to show spirit
But only to be ridiculed
By popular people
People love them at halftime
But outside the football season,
They may as well not exist
But they are the reason I even go
To football games
To see our wonderful band
Marching onto the field
Fighting their battle
Next year I will march
Just like them
I will be one of them
And do a lot of push-ups
But it will be fun
And I will proudly state
That I am a Marching Hawk!
I was watching our marching band at halftime and I was completely blown away. I go to a secondary school grades 7-12 and I wasn't really crazy for marching band until halftime of the first football game this year. It was like a fire was kindled inside of me and suddenly, I wanted to join MARCHING BAND! Sadly, I'm only in eighth grade, and I have to wait another year before I can join my friends, but trust me, I'm OBSESSED. lol this is an eighth grade marching band geek! Cya later.
