Marcus Flint looked at the tiny child bundled in his arms. His son, his heir.

Marcus sighed when he thought of how he was raised. ("You get married to a pure-blooded Slytherin and have ONE child. A son. An heir. That's it." His father often said to him)

Marcus hadn't listened to his father since the day he refused the dark mark. He didn't want his father's life. He didn't want what his father had wanted for him. He didn't want that life for himself or his children. Yes, children. Marcus Flint had three children.

He had to bite his lip to keep the tears that were trying hard to escape his eyes. It wasn't fair. She shouldn't have gone, she was young, very young, far too young to die.

"Daddy," Adrianna Flint asked, "is that the baby?"

Marcus nodded and showed the unnamed child to his six-year-old daughter.

"So, when I'm eleven he will be five?" Marcus nodded at his daughter, "And Adam will be thirteen?" Marcus nodded again, "Daddy will I ever be older then Adam?"

"No," Marcus said, "Adam will always be older then you, Adrianna, just like you will always be older then this little guy."

"Dad, why did Mummy die?" asked eight year old Adam from the corner.

Marcus thought about this for a second, how was he suppose to explain to an eight year old why his mother had passed on? He thought of what she would do, "Merlin decided it was time for Mummy to go up to Heaven and be with him, Adam."

"But why did he have to take MY mummy," Adrianna asked softly, a tear falling down her pretty little face.

Marcus cringed, he hated seeing his daughter cry, actucally he just hated seeing girls cry for any reason, "Shhh, Princess, it'll be okay, Daddy's here and he won't go anywhere, okay? I'm here for you." Marcus wipped away the tear that was slidding down his daughter's cheek.

"Dad, what are you going to name the baby?" asked Adam.

"Mum wanted him to be named Jacob, after her father, so we will name him Jacob," Marcus told his two children.

"Can I call him Jake-e-poo?" asked Arianna.

Marcus gave a short laugh, "Of course."

The pain of losing Katie would never go away, but Adam, Arianna and Jake would help make life eaiser.
