THE LEGEND OF ZELDA 3000 Yu-Gi-Oh!: HERO OF CARDS
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hey, it's Link13PGF ready to bring you another exciting story, but I have run low on Zelda based ideas and turned to my second love: Yu-Gi-Oh! That's why I bring to you LOZ 3000: Hero of Cards! It's a Yu-Gi-Oh! / Zelda crossover. (You can go to some other story if you wish right now.) If you didn't leave, this story takes place in the Great Sea Islands, which if on Earth, are settled south of Hawaii.
The Hero of Time, Patrick, has settled down with Sage of Time, Becky and they now have a thirteen year old daughter named Saria, who is like her mother in looks, but will soon have the same fate as her father. With her best friend Teran, she enters the Great Sea Duel Monsters Tournament. Her father tells her to become the champion, but is there more to it? Is Saria about to realize her destiny?
OK, that's enough from me. Let the story begin!
WARNING: If you don't know how to play the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, you may not understand this story. Also, you may need to read my other Zelda fanfictions!
PROLOGUE: Birthday Presents
"Come on Teran, make your move already!" One kid complained. A brown haired kid with tanned skin and hazel eyes was staring at a hand of cards. He then finally picked one up and placed it on the dueling field in face up attack.
"OK Saria! My Gearfried the Iron Knight's gonna cut your monster in two!" Teran told his opponent. His opponent was Saria Floyd, daughter of the Hero of Time, Patrick Floyd. She may have been her father's child, but she took on her mother's looks: Blond hair and blue eyes as well as perfectly tanned skin from spending so much time on Outset Island, her home island located in the southern reaches of the Great Sea Islands. She was staring at her own hand. She drew one card from a deck that was to her right. She then placed the card she drew on the field.
"OK, Teran. Meet my Giant Orc!" Saria declared. Teran jumped out of his chair and stared at the card in bewilderment.
"I'll attack and destroy your last monster," Saria said with a smile. Teran fell back in his seat, feeling crushed.
"Man Teran, you stink. That's three losses in a row," one kid said.
"Yeah, Saria has got to be the best duelist on Outset. There's nobody that can beat her," another girl said. Everybody was enjoying their last thirty minutes of junior high before it got out for the summer by playing Duel Monsters, a game that was popular among the kids of the Great Sea Islands. It was just then the bell rang. Everybody cheered as they picked up their backpacks and walked out to enjoy their three months of summer vacation. Saria and Teran were among the ones to get out first.
"Ah, three months to chill out, work on my tan and get a girl. I love summer," Teran told his best friend.
"Yeah, but it seems like we have summer all the time with the constant sunshine we get," Saria replied. Teran looked up and shook his head.
"Not all the time Saria. It looks like a storm is brewing." Saria looked up too and saw billowing storm clouds gathering.
"Lets race to my house before we get soaked," Saria stated. Teran nodded and the two took off down the boardwalk. Outset Island, as well as the other islands had changed majorly since the days of the Hero of Winds. Most of the big islands had been made bigger due to technological advances, turning them into major cities, while islands like Outset were changed the same way, only to a smaller extent.
Outset was ten times bigger than what it used to be and it had towering houses set on boardwalks of steel and wood. But the city also extended underwater in specialized housing that was accessible through elevators on the surface. Streets were canals with amphibious vehicles roaming the waters. Saria was fortunate to have a home on the island itself.
It stood where her ancestor's home had stood, but the old house had been torn down and replaced with a luxury condo with a separate dock area, beach, pool and tree house for her. Her family's condo was two stories high and boasted a landing pad for her father's light aircraft.
She had lived there for her entire life, but had been born in Hyrule to the south, where most of her relatives lived. Saria and Teran reached the safety of the porch as the first drops of rain fell. They took off their shoes and went inside. The main room of the house was common: a living room and kitchen.
The living room was furnished with soft white carpet, comfortable armchairs and a hologram TV. The connecting kitchen could be accessed with ease and it held top of the line appliances and a table and chairs that were like that of a bar. There was also a connecting door that led to the backyard, where the pool, beach, docks and tree house were. Saria and Teran would've been happy if it weren't for the fact the house was stifling. It was then that Saria's mother came down the stairs that were to the left of the main door. Becky looked like her daughter in every way with her sapphire eyes, blond hair and tanned skin.
"Hey Mom, why is it so hot in here?" Saria asked as she plopped down on the nearest kitchen chair. Becky went into the refrigerator and pulled out three sodas.
"Because the air conditioning is busted. A tree branch hit it from the forest above, and your dad didn't follow my instructions to protect that air conditioner," Becky complained. She then noticed Teran.
"Whoops! Where are my manners today? Hello Teran," Becky said apologetically. Teran nodded his hello and grinned.
"Lost in the storm we're having," he joked. He took one of the sodas and sat down opposite Saria. He pulled out his dueling deck and began spreading the cards out on the table.
"Hey Saria. I was wondering... Why do I keep losing duels? I have all the best cards and yet somehow you always end up crushing me," Teran asked. Saria looked over his deck cards and frowned.
"Teran, your deck is filled with nothing but warrior-type monster cards. You've got no magic, traps or combinations to strengthen your deck," Saria replied. Teran looked down at the table as he took a sip. Becky looked over his shoulders at the strange cards. She took one in her hand and studied the backing: A crimson card with gold edging and a black oval in the middle.
"I don't see how you kids like this game so much. If you weren't devoted so much to your Duel Monsters, you might actually be able to finish your training Saria," Becky said flatly. Saria stared at her mom with pure angst.
"Come on Mom! I can't always be training my body to perfection like yours and dads. I rather work my mind than anything else. It's more important than building a toned body. Besides, my body is just fine. I swim everyday in the pool and I plan to get on my aqua bike and do a lot of riding, not to mention the treasure diving, and sailing dad's yacht. I get a good workout just doing what I love," Saria replied.
It was then her father walked into the house. Patrick Floyd was standing six foot tall and had a strong build from his hero days. His brown hair and eyes made him look like he had no relation to Saria, but that was not true. Their eyes had the same twinkle whenever either of them talked of stuff they loved.
"Hello everyone," Patrick said as he took off his shoes.
"Hi Dad. Did you get what I asked?" Saria asked. It was going to be her birthday in three days and she was very antsy. She took her father by the hands and sat him down in a kitchen chair. Patrick took a sip from a soda Becky handed him and then reached underneath the counter and pulled out a small box the size of disk case. It was wrapped in a purple paper and had red ribbon tied into a bow. On an attached card, said "To: Saria Love: Mom and Dad"
"Your birthday may be in three days, but we decided you could have these early," Patrick told her as she held the box. Saria pulled the box out of his hands and everybody watched as she opened the present. Inside were two watches: One purple and another white. Saria's face lit up and she hugged her father.
"Thank you Dad! I knew that you would come through!" Saria said as she pulled out the purple watch and put it on her wrist. Teran and Becky stared at the strange watch.
"It's just a watch Saria. Everybody's got..." Teran began when Saria pushed a button on the watch. The watch turned into a small platform that firmly attached to Saria's forearm. There was a slot for a dueling deck and another for the discard pile. The 'blade' had five small slots in it and five places for Saria's monster cards. A thick plastic frame attached to Saria's arm held it on her tightly.
"Whoa! That's KaibaCorp's newest Duel Disk! That's being used in the Great Sea Islands Tournament in two days! Mr. Floyd! How did you get these?" Teran exclaimed.
"I pulled strings at Hyrule Castle, and volia! Instant Duel Disks for Saria. There are two so that she can give one to a friend. I wonder who you'll give it to Saria...?" Patrick wondered. Teran looked at Saria expectantly. Saria giggled and handed Teran the second watch.
"I can't wait for the GSIT in a few days! I really want to win it. Watching was nice last year, but I want to enter and win it all!" Saria told everyone.
"I want to win too, but first I need to work my deck over. In this state, I'll be knocked out in no time," Teran replied. Becky then handed Saria another present. It was a deck of new cards.
"Your grandmother wanted you to have these. She sent them with her love and hope that you'll use these cards," Becky told Saria. Saria looked at them and grinned.
"A lot of these are rare. I can't wait to make my tournament deck! And I can't wait to meet some famous duelists!" Saria said happily. Teran nodded.
"Yeah, many dueling legends will be in the islands so be prepared for a fight like no other Saria. Right now, I better tell you about this tournament and what you'll be getting into..." Patrick told his daughter.
