Chapter Two: New Arrivals
"Well, Saria, Teran. Today's the day. You guys ready?" Patrick asked. It was the day of the big tournament. Saria and Teran had spent the rest of the past week preparing their decks for the tournament and were on their way via a royal chopper.
"Yeah. How far are we from Windfall Island?" Saria asked. She stared out the window and could see nothing but distant islands.
"We're about fifteen minutes out. Relax; we're nearly there. But right now, I'll brief you on what you should do when you arrive on the island. Look for clues as to where the gym leader of Windfall Island is. Rumor has it that there are hidden charts on the islands that point out the gym's location. These charts are green in color. When you beat a leader, you'll earn the one of six medals that you need to enter the finals," Patrick explained.
"OK, but where can we find other medals?" Teran asked.
"You can find other medals on every major island. Those fancy watches you have there can help you track new medals as well as rare cards that will be hidden on the various islands of the Great Sea," Patrick replied, "And if you still can't find one, you can always call me at home for help. You two understand?" Saria and Teran nodded.
"Should you two ever lose track of one another, those watches function as communicators and also have a map function that displays all the islands in the Great Sea," Patrick continued.
"Uh, Mr. Floyd, are we going to have to fly the chopper everywhere we go?" Teran asked. Patrick and Saria laughed.
"No Teran, my dad is lending us a speedboat to use for the tournament. It's waiting for us on Windfall Island, right Dad?" Saria replied. Patrick nodded.
"It's at dock number 7 so don't forget. I'm just glad that you two just got your boating licenses so you can handle it," Patrick said sighing. Teran and Saria laughed as Patrick reached into his pocket. His hand came out, holding two Duel Monsters cards.
"Saria, I want you to use these during the tournament. My father gave them to me, and I want you to have them now," Patrick explained. Saria took the two cards and studied them. She then placed them in her card pack.
"Thanks, I'll put them in," Saria replied.
"What about me?" Teran asked.
"Sorry kid. Those are special cards. Only members of my family can handle those. But this card should be of extreme use," Patrick said as he pulled another card from his pocket. Teran took it, looked at it, and then put it with the rest of his cards.

Meanwhile, fifteen miles from the northern coast of Windfall Island...

"You guys excited about this tournament as much as I am?" A boy asked. He had blond hair and brown eyes and wore a white T-shirt with a blue stripe in the middle, dog tag, jean shorts, socks and tennis shoes. On his left wrist was a green duel disk watch and his belt had a dueling deck carefully placed in a protected pouch. His name is Joey Wheeler.
"You bet Joey," A girl said. She had reddish-blond hair, brown eyes and wore a pink tank top, jean shorts and sandals. It was Serenity Wheeler, Joey's sister. A boy across the way with brown hair and eyes scoffed.
"Just be glad we could get a ride to this event." He wore a black tank top, jean shorts, socks and black tennis shoes. His name is Tristan Taylor.
"Come on Tristan. Cheer up, we're going to have a great time," Serenity said.
"Serenity's right you know. I know we've had a rough time in the past, but this time, we can enjoy the tournament without having to worry about people trying to destroy us," another boy said. This one had the craziest hair: The back area had black hair with red tips and a few wisps of blond hair stuck out the front. He wore a black T- shirt, jean shorts, socks and tennis shoes. Around his neck was a golden, upside-down pyramid like object known as the Millennium Puzzle. It had the eye of Anubis on it and was suspended by a thick metal chain. On his wrist was a blue duel disk watch. It was none other than Yugi Moto.
"It's not that you guys. It's just that I feel guilty taking this trip without Teá and Duke. They deserve the chance for some fun," Tristan replied. Everybody nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, that was a shame that Teá caught the flu and Duke offered to stay with her until she's better. But we'll take lots of photos for them so it'll be like they were here," Serenity said. It was then that another boy came in through from the cockpit of the chopper. He had brown-black hair and dark eyes. He wore a blue and yellow striped shirt, jean shorts, and sandals. He was short like Yugi. It was Mokuba Kaiba.
"You guys. We're approaching Windfall Island now, so fasten your seatbelts," Mokuba said. Everybody did so and Yugi took the opportunity to gaze at the island. It was a silver jewel on a sapphire background. The island was composed of offshore platforms linked by boardwalks, bridges and canals that were ablaze with activity. On the northern shore was the airport and the southern shore had the docks.
"Well, you guys, this is it. Lets do our best to win this Yugi," Joey piped up. Yugi nodded and they braced themselves as the chopper landed with a soft thud on one of the landing pads. Everybody climbed out except for Mokuba.
"My big brother and I are going to head somewhere else, but we'll see you guys later," He explained. Everybody stood back as the copter took off again.
"Well, you guys, we're here, so lets find the first gym leader," Joey suggested as he prepared to take off.
"We should find our boat first Joey," Serenity argued, "There's plenty of time to track down the leader later."
"Serenity's right Joey. Lets drop our things off at the boat and then head out," Tristan agreed. Joey looked ready to argue further, but then finally consented.
"You're right. Besides, It's not like I want to carry my pack throughout the whole tournament," Joey consented. Everybody laughed and then turned to leave when another chopper landed on another nearby deck. Yugi immediately felt his Millennium Puzzle's power activate. He felt the presence of his spirit friend, Yami enter his mind.
What's up Yami? Yugi asked.
I sense a great power nearby Yugi, and it's coming from that chopper. Yami replied. Yugi stared at the chopper as its inhabitants hopped out. One was a teenage girl about his age with blond hair and sapphire eyes. She wore a purple T-shirt, jean shorts, socks, shoes, a duel disk watch, a belt with a deck pouch attached and a pack slung over her shoulder.
There was also a boy with brown hair, hazel eyes and he was wearing similar clothes except he wore a blue tank top and white duel disk watch. Both wore dog tags. Then there was the third person. He wore a blue T- shirt, jean shorts, gauntlets, socks and combat boots. He had brown eyes and brown hair.
He had a sword and shield attached to his back by a sword belt. The girl and older man embraced and the two teens watched as the older man hoped back on the chopper. They stood and watched as it took off and then they turned to leave. Yugi wouldn't forget her face.
Yugi, I feel something strange about that girl. I want you to follow her. Yami said.
I don't know about this. I mean, all Hylians have magic don't they? Yugi asked.
Some do, but I feel intense power coming from her and it feels so much like mine. Yami replied.
"Hello, Earth to Yugi," Joey interrupted. Joey waved an open hand in front of Yugi's face. Yugi snapped out of his trance.
"Oh sorry Joey. I was talking to Yami," Yugi apologized. Joey nodded.
"What did he say?"
"That girl that just arrived... She had intense power coming from her, and it's worrying Yami."
"Let me guess: He wants us to follow her?" Yugi nodded.
"I don't see why we shouldn't. Lets get Serenity and Tristan to go find the boat, while we follow the girl," Joey suggested. Yugi nodded in agreement. They walked to the end of the dock where Serenity and Tristan were talking to a local sailor.
"That chopper that just left is a Hylian Royal Chopper. You don't see those too often around here," The sailor was saying.
"Hey guys! We're gonna go start looking for clues about the gym leader," Yugi stated.
"I thought we all agreed to go find the boat first," Tristan argued.
"Correction: You're going to find the boat while the rest of us begin looking for the leader," Joey corrected as he handed his bag to Serenity.
"Wait a minute..." Tristan began when Yugi handed up his bag.
"Come on, let them go. We'd just be in the way anyway Tristan," Serenity stated.
"We'll even let you pick the first beds," Yugi added. Tristan and Serenity liked that idea. As Yugi and Joey ran down the dock, Joey added.
"I just hope this isn't a wild goose chase."
"Joey, if they split up, I'll take the girl OK?" Yugi asked. Joey nodded.
"And I'll take the boy."

Meanwhile, near the docks...

"You ready yet?" Saria complained. They had found the boat and unpacked but Teran was still putting things away.
"Just a minute... There! Lets go," Teran said as he came out of their cabin. The two locked up the boat and made sure it was securely tied. It was agreed that they would split up and look for clues. Saria was going to start along the shore and question the local shopkeepers. As she got going, a figure stepped in front of her and blocked her way. It was a girl and she was clothed in army fatigues: camo tank top, jean shorts, dog tags and a dark green duel disk watch. She had brown hair, green eyes and a very muscular build. At her back was an army pack.
"Uh, excuse me..." Saria began when the girl grabbed her and shoved her into a nearby alley.
"Silence girl! Give me all your cards now and save yourself some pain!" The girl commanded. Saria slowly got up.
"What in Farore's name makes you think I'll give you my cards?" Saria asked coldly.
"If you won't give them to me, we shall duel you will lose to me, and I'll get your entire deck!" the girl answered evilly. Saria reached for her duel disk watch and set it to duel disk mode.
"But if I win, I get to leave quietly with one of your rare cards!" Saria demanded. Her opponent armed a duel disk watch of her own.
"Agreed! But I'm not gonna lose!" The girl replied. Both placed their decks in their card recognizers.
"It's time to duel!" Both declared.
