Chapter Eleven: Dueling Legend Part 3
Everyone could see Teran struggling again. His hand quivered over the deck.
This is it. If I don't draw a monster now, I'm done for. Teran thought grimly as he drew from his deck.
"Believe in the heart of the cards!" Yami shouted as Teran drew. Teran looked at his card.
All right! A monster! Teran thought excitedly.
"I'll place one monster in defense mode and end my turn," Teran declared.
"It's my move now," Yami said as he drew from his deck.
This hand is not looking good but this should buy me some time. Yugi thought.
"I too will place a monster in defense mode and end my turn!" Yami explained as Joey drew from his deck.
"I'll place Alligator's Sword (1500/1200) in defense mode to end my turn," Joey said, a lizard-like creature in crimson and black armor carrying a silver sword appearing on the field in a crouching position. Mia drew from her deck and studied the field.
Interesting proposition I have going on. Mia thought as she looked at Joey.
Wheeler has one card face down and a weak monster on the field. But so does Teran but I can't tell what he played. Yugi has two cards face down and a monster facedown too. Who should I attack? That Teran kid is their weakest link... Mia thought sinisterly.
"OK! I'll place one card facedown," Mia began, a new card on the field, "Now go Millennium Warrior! Attack Teran's defensive monster!" The monster rushed forward, sword poised to destroy.
"Hold it, activate Spellbinding Circle!" Yami shouted, revealing a facedown card. The card turned into a circle of magical energy and it flew towards the rushing warrior and it quickly stopped cold as the energy wrapped around its middle.
"My trap stops your attack and reduces your monster's attack by 700 points!" Yami explained.
"Not in Millennium Warrior's case! It will lower my monster's overall power, but unfortunately for you, its attack will still connect thanks to my warrior's special power!" Mia replied. Teran grimaced as his monster; a girl sitting on a crystal throne vanished in a blaze of golden energy. Surprisingly, he didn't seem angry at all about the loss. In fact, he was smiling!
"What's with you? Don't you realize that your monster's defense points are deducted from your life points?" Mia asked. Teran continued to smile as the team's life points dropped to 1900.
"Do you realize you just attacked my Princess of Tsurgi (900/700)?" Teran asked back. Mia clenched her fists in anger.
"My princess reduces your life points by 500 points for every magic and trap card you have on the field so you felt that more than I did." Teran smirked. Mia frowned in anger as her life points went down to 800.
"I'll end my turn," Mia said through gritted teeth.
"Good!" Teran said as he drew from his deck.
OK, Yugi played Spellbinding Circle to lower Millennium Warrior's attack. It's still too strong so I must find a way to weaken it further. Teran thought as he glimpsed at his two-card hand.
"For this turn, I play Graceful Charity, which lets me draw three cards and discard two," Teran announced, as he did just that.
"Now I'll play one more card facedown and summon the Crimson Sentry (1500/1000) and end my turn!" Teran finished, his new cards appearing on the field.
"My move then!" Yugi declared as he drew. Yami looked over at Teran and Teran faintly nodded, a broad grin still on his face.
What is he doing? His monster is far too weak. The pressure probably got to him. Yugi thought.
No Yugi! I don't think he's bluffing this time! Yami replied.
"Now, I'll sacrifice my defense monster, in order to bring out my Dark Magician Girl (200/1700)!" Yami declared his female magician appearing on the field.
"Tough break Yugi! I reveal Adhesion Trap Hole!" Mia shouted in response, revealing her facedown trap. Yami watched as his monster fell into a hole filled with pink slime. She tried to free herself but was nearly covered in the strange muck.
"My special trap will cut the attack of your magician in half making it a big target! What do you think of that Yugi Moto?" Mia explained as the magician's attack dropped.
"To be honest Mia, I had no intention of letting you destroy my monster anyway!" Yami said, reaching for his hand again.
"I play Magical Hats and conceal my weakened magician to end my turn!" Yami replied, four top hats appearing and his female magician disappearing.
"Now it's my turn! I'll place Panther Warrior (2000/1500) in defense mode to end my turn!" Joey said, his monster appearing, shield raised.
"Good, because it is time I finished this duel!" Mia declared, drawing from her deck.
"Not so fast! Reveal Drop Off!" Joey shouted, revealing his lone trap, "Now you have to send the card you just drew to the graveyard!" Mia placed her card in the graveyard.
"Don't think I'm out yet Wheeler! Go Millennium Warrior! Attack the second hat from the left with Millennium Blade strike!" Mia commanded. Yugi grimaced.
"Good choice, but not good enough. Reveal facedown card, Magic Cylinder!" Yami shouted.
"Tough break Yugi! Reveal Broken Spell! It will automatically destroy your trap at the cost of one-half of my life points!" Mia countered. Yugi could only watch as all four of his hats and magician disappeared in one fantastic explosion. The others could only watch as their life points plunged to 100.
"Mia is got the lead again," Tristan noticed.
"Yeah but don't count the guys out yet. There is still time enough to win," Mrs. Floyd noted. Everyone nodded in agreement as Teran drew from his deck.
"For my turn, I'll sacrifice my Crimson Sentry in order to summon Swordstalker (2000/1600)!" Teran declared, his purple warrior appearing on the field.
"My move then," Yami declared as he studied the field.
OK, the Millennium Warrior is the strongest card Mia has on the field so if we beat it, we might be able to win. Yugi thought.
"For this turn I summon Mystical Elf (800/2000) in defense mode!" Yugi declared as his elven monster appeared.
"Now it's my turn! And I'll summon Gearfried the Iron Knight (1800/1600) in defense mode to end my turn!" Joey declared another monster appeared in a crouching position.
"Now..." Mia began when Teran revealed a trap.
Hold it, reveal Time Seal! This trap prevents you from drawing a card this turn!" Teran interrupted. Mia frowned in anger as she pointed at Teran.
"I don't need to draw to defeat you! I'm tired of you taunting me Teran! Prepare for your demise! Go Millennium Warrior! Attack Swordstalker with Millennium Sword attack!" Mia shouted in anger. Teran grinned as the Swordstalker's cold blade vanished and turned into a sword that glowed with electricity.
"Nice try! You revealed my Lightning Blade magic card. It raises the power of my Swordstalker by 800 points!" Teran announced. Mia gasped as the two warriors charged.
"Go Swordstalker! Counter strike with bolt of vengeance!" Teran commanded. Everyone shielded their eyes as both monsters vanished in an earthshaking blast of light and electricity.
"No! My Millennium Warrior! It's gone!" Mia realized.
"That's not all! Because your monster didn't survive the fight, your monster's special ability can't activate so our life points are safe!" Teran added. Their cheering section let out a whoop of victory.
"Alright Teran! Finish her off!" Saria cheered as Teran drew a card from his deck.
"This duel ends now! I summon Celtic Guardian (1400/1200) in attack mode!" Teran declared, his swordsman appearing, "Celtic Guardian! Attack Mia's life points directly!" Mia recoiled in fear as the blade struck her, reducing her life points to zero.
"They did it!" The group shouted as the holograms vanished. They all met back on the ground, giving out pats on the back and congrats to the three.
"Teran, you pulled the impossible! You landed a direct attack on Mia. I feel that when the news gets out, you'll have a lot of people to face," Mr. Floyd noted. Teran nodded.
"But I couldn't have done it without Yugi and Joey's help. If it hadn't been for them, I would have cost them the match," Teran said modestly.
"Yes that's true, but it was you who defeated the Millennium Warrior," Mia added, "And you are the reason I took a direct attack and forced me to give you and your two partners Fusion Medals as well as these booster packs." Mia held out three purple medals with Millennium Shield engraved on it. Each one had a booster pack underneath.
"Those Fusion Medals count as two medals just so you know. I have to prepare for the next duel, but I wish all of you the best of luck!" Mia said as she turned back to the dueling field.
"Well guys, I believe we have a schedule to keep so lets get you guys back to your boat and on the way to the closest gym from here," Patrick said.
"Where's the next best gym?" Saria asked.
"Why at Forest Haven of course!" Mr. Floyd replied as the team left the arena.
Meanwhile at a KaibaCorp lab on Windfall Island...
"This new card apparently has great power, but we shall see what kind of power it holds," Kaiba mumbled to himself as he looked up to see Mokuba and several scientists preparing a strange robot. It was a humanoid robot with a duel disk attached to its arm. Kaiba knew it could react and think like a human.
"Lets begin this demonstration already!" Kaiba shouted to his associates as he prepped his own black duel disk. He placed the deck in the recognizer and drew a six card hand as the robot was activated and several random monsters appeared on the field: the Dark Magician, Jinzo, Flame Swordsman, Red Eyes Black Dragon and a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, a dragon with three heads and a sapphire body.
"Lets see what these new cards can do! I play the magic card, Evil's Summoning Ritual! To use it, I'll sacrifice my Vorse Raider and Gadget Soldier in order to summon my ultimate creature!" Kaiba declared, placing his cards on the field. His beast-like, rapier wielding warrior and metallic soldier appeared only to vanish in an explosion of large proportions. The monsters' souls combined with a dark crimson flame. Kaiba laughed as the flame took form. The flame floated towards the ground and everyone watched as the flame morphed into a human-like creature. It wore black armor and a crimson cape with hair color to match. It had orange eyes and extremely dark skin. Its body was rippled with muscle and his fists glowed with intense dark magic. In his left hand was a large broadsword that matched the armor.
"Awaken my monster! Awaken Ganondorf, the King of Evil (4500/3500)! Attack the enemy with your Triforce dark magic sword attack!" Kaiba commanded, pointing a finger at the robot and the holographic monsters. Ganondorf raised his sword high into the air and drew in dark energy. As he did so, lights around the room began to explode and flames spread around the room.
"Seto! Get out of there!" Mokuba shouted but his voice was drowned out over the king's attack. The king then swung its sword in a horizontal slash, releasing a dark crescent of energy that lit the room. Kaiba smiled as all of the enemy monsters and the robot vanished a flash of extreme dark light. As the robots remains set fire to the room, Kaiba shouted.
"With my superb dueling skills and the Triforce Destiny Cards, I shall defeat Yugi once and for all and reclaim my rightful title of World's Greatest Duelist once again!" Then he laughed some more as the sprinklers came on and doused the flames.
