Gold sun glistening
Shining silver steel
The last light of hope
Kindled in the West.
They stand,
The ageless and the
Young, ready to fight
Clinging to the hope
Of faint victory
Yet prepared to die.
They stand,
Side by side by friend
And kinsmen with them
The pale light of hope
Burning in their eyes.
They stand,
Stern and proud facing
The growing darkness
That slowly covers
The land in shadow.
They stand,
Brave and grim and lost
In bleak lands where dwells
Not even the faint
Memory of hope.
They stand,
Immortals and men
Long estranged kinsmen
Of Numenor and
Valinor's white shores
Together facing
Hope-leeching evil
Of Rings and deceit
Betrayal and loss.
They stand,
Men and the Eldar
Facing the Dark Lord
His wrath, his malice
And his dark power.
They stand,
Stern and unyielding
Watching as their death
Comes forth to claim them
But hope does not fail.
They stand,
United as one
Bound by hope and blood,
By light and by death.
They stand,
Figures of legend
Bright and strong beneath
The light of the sun
That slowly rises
Weak by resolute
Hope in the darkness.
They stand,
Forever allies
For as long as men
Hold to memory
Their story remains
Forever endures
Until the fleeting
Thoughts of man move on
And they are forgot
A fading whisper
Forgotten courage
They stand
Alone in the darkness.
