Chapter Twenty-Five: Valkyrion Victory
"Bring it Joey!" Mr. Floyd challenged.
"I'll sacrifice my Battle Warrior in order to summon Jinzo (2400/1500)!" Joey said, his monster appearing.
Crap! Patrick thought.
"Jinzo! Destroy the Mystical Elf with cyber shock attack!" Joey commanded. Mr. Floyd braced himself as his elf was destroyed.
"Now it's my turn!" Saria said, glancing at a new card she drew.
"Like the others, I'll sacrifice my Aqua Madoor in order to summon my..." But Saria never finished her move as Link's voice entered her consciousness.
Wait! Don't play Chaos Command yet! Summon another monster first! Trust me! I have a good idea! Link advised.
"Instead, I'll play Neo the Magical Swordsman (1700/1000) and end my turn without attacking," Saria said, her blonde-haired swordsman appearing on the field.
I hope you know what you're doing. Saria prayed as Mr. Floyd drew.
"It's a good thing Saria didn't attack. I needed her attack to fail for my strategy to work. First, I'll reveal Cyber Jar (900/700)! It'll destroy all monsters on the field!" Mr. Floyd said, revealing his jar monster. Everyone watched helplessly as Cyber Jar sucked in and obliterated every monster on the field.
"Now, we each draw five cards and summon any low-level monsters to the field," Mr. Floyd explained. Each person examined their five new cards and placed them down.
"I summon three monsters: Celtic Guardian (1400/1200), Gazelle the King of Mythical Beasts (1500/1200), and Maha Vailo (1550/1400)," Yami declared, his three monsters appearing on the field.
"I got Alligator's Sword (1500/1200) and Panther Warrior (2000/1500)," Joey announced, his two animal warriors appearing poised for battle.
"What'd you get Saria?" Tristan asked.
"I got lucky! I got four monsters: Four Sword Hero (1000/1000), Obnoxious Celtic Guardian (1400/1200), Frontier Wiseman (1600/800) and The Illusory Gentleman (1500/1600) all in attack mode!" Saria replied, four monsters appearing on the field.
"Sorry Saria, but I got luckier than you! I got five monsters: Two Alpha the Magnet Warriors (1400/1700), Two Beta the Magnet Warriors (1700/1600) and one Gamma the Magnet Warrior (1500/1800)!" Mr. Floyd said, placing all five cards on the field and summoning the five monsters.
"Now, I'll play Pot of Greed to draw two new cards," Mr. Floyd said, drawing two more cards.
"Now, I'll have three of my warriors combine to create Valkyrion the Magna Warrior (3500/3800)!" Everyone gasped as Mr. Floyd's warriors combined to form the seemingly unstoppable rock warrior.
"Now I'll summon another Gamma the Magnet Warrior so I can create a second Valkyrion!" Mr. Floyd said, summoning yet another Valkyrion.
"That ain't good," Tristan commented.
"Tell me about it! Stopping one is bad enough! How are we supposed to stop two?" Joey wondered.
"Through teamwork that's how!" Serenity answered. Joey looked at his sister and nodded.
"Sorry, but I have to sever your connections with one another if I hope to win this! Valkyrion number one! Attack Joey's Alligator's Sword!" Mr. Floyd replied, his Valkyrion rushing towards him.
"Oh man! If that attack connects, it's over!" Tristan realized. Yami grinned as Alligator's Sword was destroyed. Joey waited for his life points to drop to zero when his life points stopped at 700.
"What happened? I should be defeated," Joey noticed.
"That is weird," Serenity admitted.
"No it isn't Joey. My Beast of Gilfer saved you," Yugi said.
"That's right! Beast of Gilfer has a special ability!" Joey remembered.
"When he was sent to the graveyard, I used his special ability to weaken Valkyrion and drain its attack points by 700 points," Yugi admitted.
"Good move Yugi, but Joey won't survive this! Valkyrion number two! Attack Joey's Panther Warrior!" Mr. Floyd commanded. Joey and Serenity panicked when a circle of light ensnared Mr. Floyd's monster.
"Little did you realize, I also kept a Spellbinding Circle waiting just in case," Yugi added, revealing the trap card.
"I walked right into that," Mr. Floyd chastised.
"Yes, and now prepare for my turn," Yami said as he drew from his deck, "I'm going to play a ritual card, Dark Magic Ritual! I'll use it to sacrifice my Celtic Guardian and Gazelle in order to summon the Magician of Black Chaos (2800/2600)!" Mr. Floyd gasped as Yugi's monsters vanished in order to summon one of the most feared magicians in Duel Monsters. His new magician stared at Mr. Floyd's weakened Valkyrions.
"This can't be happening," Mr. Floyd whispered.
"Now, I'll play a magic card known as Magic Formula to raise my new magician's attack by 500 points," Yugi added, "Then I'll sacrifice my Maha Vailo in order to summon my Summoned Skull (2500/2100)!" Summoned Skull appeared in a flash of dark smoke as Maha Vailo vanished.
"Summoned Skull! Magician of Black Chaos! Attack both Valkyrions with chaos scepter blast and lightning strike attack!" Yugi and Yami commanded. Mr. Floyd recoiled as both of his best monsters were wiped out and his life points dropped to 4000.
"Now, I'll place two cards facedown to end my turn," Yami added, two new cards appearing on the field. Joey drew from his deck and frowned. It was then he had a strange look on his face.
"I have to pass," Joey said as he watched Saria drew.
"Joey! Why didn't you attack?" Tristan shouted angrily.
"I don't have a clue! I just spaced out!" Joey replied heatedly.
"Can we continue? Saria'll probably cover your mistake!" Mr. Floyd shouted, ending their fight. Tristan and Joey promptly shut up as Saria drew a card.
"Dad, I have to end this now," Saria said as she looked at her new card. Mr. Floyd nodded.
"Finish me quick then kid."
"I'll play the Master Sword Ritual card," Saria said, revealing her facedown card, "I'll sacrifice my Four Sword Hero and Illusory Gentleman to summon the Hero of Time (3200/2700)." Mr. Floyd right then and placed his hand on the top of his deck.
"I surrender Saria," Mr. Floyd said as he pocketed his deck, "I would rather not be attacked this turn. The duel is yours." Saria sagged with relief as her father stepped down from his podium. Moments later, the team gathered on the floor.
"Take the Valkyrion Medals. You deserve them," Mr. Floyd said as he handed them some golden medals with Valkyrion the Magna Warrior engraved on them.
"Dad, instead of giving me a booster pack, I would like Teran's card that you took instead," Saria insisted when Mr. Floyd reached for the booster packs in his pocket. Wordlessly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out Teran's Dark Blade and gave it to Saria.
"I had a feeling you would want to give it back so I kept it on me," Mr. Floyd admitted when Teran ran in, breathless.
"Saria! Is the duel over?" Teran asked. Saria nodded and then held out the Dark Blade.
"I got your card back," Saria said, "Take it. It's yours." Teran shook his head.
"Nah, you earned it. Keep it. You might find a use for it in your deck. I got a feeling you're going to need it soon. Besides, this way a part of me will be in your deck. It's kind of cool when you think about it," Teran said flatly. Saria stared at the card and put it into her deck. She then pulled a card out of it and handed it to Teran. The card she had in her hand was a magic card known as The A. Forces.
"Use this A. Forces card. It'll help tremendously in future duels," Saria said and Teran took the card and put it into his deck.
"Teran may be out of the tournament, but there will be others. The fact is, he can still duel others for cards for his deck. He just can't access the finals now," Mr. Floyd explained.
"That's alright with me. I'll still tag along if I'm forgiven for my stubbornness before."
"You're forgiven but right now, you should go to see your mom at the hospital and tell her you're alright. I know she's worried sick about you," Mr. Floyd replied. Teran nodded and shouted a goodbye as he left for the hospital.
LATER ON, AT THE SURFACE...
"Well, it looks like Greatfish will be our next destination," Mr. Floyd declared.
"We?" Joey asked.
"Yeah. Since my gym leader duties are over, I can travel with you again in the Courage IX. We need to get Nayru's Pearl there and then my research can be finished. There should also be a gym there for you guys to challenge," Mr. Floyd replied.
"But what about...?"
"Don't worry Joey. I already assigned a crew to take your yacht to Domino City Harbor. There, we will dock it in my private docks for you. That sound good?" Joey nodded.
"OK, go grab your things and meet me and Becky back at the Sea Wheeler. We'll board from there and head north."
