Chapter Forty-Nine: The Final Battle Part 2

"Joey! We don't have to do this!" Saria begged as Joey drew from his deck.

"Yeah, well I'm not giving you a choice in the matter. I summon Armored Lizard (1500/1200) in attack mode!" Joey replied, summoning a blue lizard monster with razor sharp claws, "Then I'll put one card facedown to end my turn!" Saria sighed as she drew a card from her deck.

"OK, since Damon is forcing you to duel, I guess I have to hit you with my all! I summon Neo the Magical Swordsman (1700/1000) in attack mode! Then I'll place two cards facedown and send my swordsman to attack your lizard!" Saria shouted, her swordsman lunging for Joey's monster.

"Hold on! You didn't honestly think I let would let you get off to a good start did you? I reveal my facedown card: Reinforcements!" Joey interrupted, revealing his facedown card.

"A trap!" Saria gasped.

"That's right! My trap card will increase the attack points of my lizard by 500 points for one turn. That means your magic swordsman will be too weak to destroy it!" Joey explained, his trap taking effect. Saria watched as her swordsman's sword clanked uselessly against the Armor Lizard's hide. She then watched as the lizard slashed her swordsman, destroying it and reducing Saria's life points by 300.

"That attack cut my monster to pieces!" Saria said nervously as Joey drew from his deck.

"Yeah, and now I summon Battle Warrior (700/1000) in attack mode!" Joey declared, summoning his space age monster, "Now my monsters, cut down Saria's life points!" Saria stepped back in fear as both monsters lunged for her. Saria fell onto her back as Battle Warrior gave her a black eye and then screamed out in pain as Armored Lizard slashed her in the back.

"That's right! Curl up on the ground like the weakling you are!" Joey commanded as Saria's life points dropped to 1500. That made Saria snap. She stood up and began to glow blue.

"No one calls me a weakling!" Saria threatened, standing up. In a fierce explosion of blue magic, Saria transformed into her royal garb.

"Now, finish your turn so I can save you!" Saria commanded.

MEANWHILE...

"Serenity! Fight the magic controlling you! I can sense your true spirit underneath that new tough exterior!" Ashley begged as Serenity drew from her deck.

"Ha! As if you had any real magic!" Serenity taunted, infuriating the Gerudo teen, "I summon Vampire Lady (1550/1550) in attack mode and I'll place one card facedown to end my turn!" Ashley frowned as the vampire took the field.

"I'll show you a thing or two about magic!" Ashley shot, drawing a card, "I summon Gerudo Spear Guard (1600/1500) in attack mode!" Ashley's monster resembled a dark skinned woman in desert clothing. In her hands was a silver spear.

"Now I'll set one card facedown and play the field magic card, The Gerudo Palace!" Ashley added. Serenity watched as a large stone fortress appeared out from underneath Ashley and her monster. The fortress was three stories high and it had multiple balconies. Surrounding it were large stonewalls. Standing on the wall in a watchtower was the Gerudo Spear Guard.

"What does your fortress do?" Serenity asked as Ashley sat atop her fortress.

"My fortress raises the attack power of all Gerudo monsters by 500 points so go my Spear Guard! Attack Serenity's Vampire Lady with spear assault!" Ashley commanded. Serenity watched as the thrown spear stabbed her vampire, destroying it and reducing her life points to 3450.

"There's more! Since Gerudo Spear Guard destroyed a monster while Gerudo Palace is in play, I can draw one card," Ashley added, drawing a card from her deck. Serenity drew from her deck and frowned.

With that palace card in play, all of Ashley's Gerudo monsters will get a power boost. I've got to destroy that spear guard and Ashley before Ashley summons a powerful monster to the field. Serenity thought urgently.

"I place one monster in defense mode and play the facedown magic card, Biometrics which lets me summon a monster from my hand or deck with the same attack points as one of your monsters," Serenity explained, proceeding to search through her deck, "And I choose to summon the monster, Fallen Chaos Soldier (2100/2000) in attack mode!" Serenity's new monster was a blue-garbed soldier that held a blue battle staff and wore a silver mask that showed a pair of fierce green eyes and a wild mane of black hair.

"My Fallen Chaos Soldier can destroy any monster that has the same attack points as it instantly when it attacks so say good night to your spear guard!" Serenity warned, her soldier rushing the fortress. Ashley smiled.

"Don't count on it! I activate my fortress' special ability! Archers! Shoot the Fallen Chaos Soldier!" Ashley called. Serenity watched as Gerudo warriors with bows and arrows gathered at the wall and trained their sights on the soldier. Serenity then watched as her monster was riddled with arrows.

"My fortress has archers equipped with poison arrows that drain the attack points of any monster that tries to attack the fortress from the ground. Because your soldier attacked, 500 attack points will be deducted from your monster's attack power before my monster counter attacks!" Ashley explained as her spear guard wiped out Serenity's monster and took 500 of her life points.

"And remember, because my guard wiped out a monster, I draw another card from my deck," Ashley added, drawing a card from her deck.

MEANWHILE...

"Now I'll place one card facedown and let you continue your pathetic assault," Joey taunted.

This isn't going well. I need a card that can block his trap cards but I don't have anything like that and there's no sign of the Princess of Destiny. But maybe my draw will help me out. Saria thought hopefully, drawing from her deck.

"Well, it looks as if I don't have anything that can beat both of your monsters so I'll just throw a monster in defense mode and end my turn," Saria smirked, placing the monster. She then watched as Joey drew.

"Couldn't get anything huh? Well, I summon Panther Warrior (2000/1500) in attack mode and then I'll have Armored Lizard attack your defense card!" Joey said, summoning his panther and ordering his lizard to attack Saria's facedown monster.

"Sorry Joey but I have no intention of letting you slip by with another attack!" Saria frowned.

"Oh yeah? Well how are you gonna stop me?" Joey asked tauntingly. Saria smirked.

"With this! I activate my facedown card: Spellcaster's Arsenal!" Joey gasped.

"What's that do?"

"Simple. I give up one card in my hand and I can summon any high level magician I want in my deck and I'm summoning my Dark Magician Girl (2000/1700) to the field in attack mode!" Saria explained, discarding one card. Then in a flash of lightning, Saria's magician took the field.

"Summoning a magician won't do you any good! I can still attack your defending monster!"

"Not so! Spellcaster's Arsenal makes it so my magician is the new target of your attack!"

"But your magician is stronger than my lizard!" Joey realized.

"Which means it will be destroyed! Dark Magician Girl! Attack with dark burning attack!" Joey frowned in anger as his lizard was destroyed in a blaze of pink magic from the Dark Magician Girl's wand.

"You'll regret that you runt!" Joey snarled as his life points dropped to 3500.

"Really, it'll have to wait until after my turn," Saria replied, drawing a card, "And with the card I've just drawn, I won't get the chance to regret nothing. I play the magic card, Sage's Stone! With its powerful magic and my Dark Magician Girl on the field, I can summon my Courageous Dark Magician (2500/2100) in attack mode!" Joey frowned as Saria's magician appeared on the field, a smirk on his face.

"Now my Dark Magician Girl! Attack Joey's Battle Warrior!" Saria commanded. Joey however was ready.

"Hold on! I reveal my trap card, Skull Dice!" Joey interrupted, his facedown card revealing itself, "Depending on the roll of the die, I can decrease the attack power of your Dark Magician Girl! So go Skull Dice!" Saria watched as a tiny devil creature holding a red die dropped the die on the ground.

If he rolls a four or higher, my magician will be too weak to stop Battle Warrior. Saria thought as the die began to slow down. The die then stopped on a four.

"Yeah! Your Dark Magician Girl's attack power is reduced by seventy-five percent, making its attack power 500!" Saria however wasn't ready to lose just yet.

"Hold it! I won't give you the chance to destroy my magician! So to call off my attack, I play my facedown card, Call of Destiny Ritual!" Saria said, revealing her ritual card, "Now I'll sacrifice both my magicians to summon..." But Saria then received stopped in mid speech.

Hold on child of Wisdom! Sacrifice all three of your monsters! A kind female voice interrupted.

Why should I? Saria asked.

Because there is a monster more powerful than your Princess of Destiny and you are holding it. Look! Saria looked down at her Princess of Destiny and saw that it had changed from a level eight monster to a level twelve monster.

How?

Trust me. Sacrifice all of your monsters and summon the monster that can help you save your friend and the world! Saria nodded.

"There's been a slight change of plans Joey! Instead of sacrificing two monsters, I plan to sacrifice all of my monsters!" Saria told her opponent.

"What? Are you crazy? But if you want to remove all of your monsters from the game, I guess I can't disagree with you. It makes one less card I have to destroy," Joey laughed. Saria frowned.

"You know why I'm going to sacrifice three monsters Joey? It's because I'm about to summon a new Princess of Destiny. A princess with power that can only be fully awakened by me, the Sage of Time!" Saria declared, the wind beginning to blow fiercely, "Watch Joey as I sacrifice the three monsters I placed on the field in order to bring forth the ultimate spell caster monster!" Joey watched as Saria's two magicians and her facedown monster vanished in columns of white light and combined into one big one.

"What's going on? Tell me now!" Joey shouted as ringing filled his ears.

"Joey! Behold the creature that shall save you from your evil spell! Behold the power of the Princess of Destiny, Envoy of Wisdom (4500/4000), a monster who can only be summoned when the duelist holding it has the full power of the Triforce of Wisdom at her command!" Saria said. Joey watched fearfully as the energy column exploded into a storm of tiny sparks that showed a female monster dressed in an elaborate white dress, glass slippers, silk gloves, elaborate jewelry and a large jeweled staff in her hands. Her near white blond hair and blue eyes shone in the torchlight. Joey could feel the power of the monster as it began to emanate a soft white glow.

"How can I stop that?" Joey gasped.

"Joey! You have to fight the magic controlling your heart. If you don't, I'll be left with no choice but to knock off your remaining life points!" Saria begged.

"How many times do I have to tell you? You can't save him!" Joey replied. But Saria knew she had struck a cord when Joey folded over in pain.

"Saria! Attack! I can't... You can't... Go! I'll be fine!" Joey struggled. Saria nodded and turned to her monster.

"Princess of Destiny, Envoy of Wisdom! I give up 1000 of my life points in order to activate your special ability! Draw magic from all around us and attack all of Joey's monsters and wipe out his life points!" Saria declared, her life points being reduced to a mere 500. Joey watched as white energy flew from all around and gathered in the princess' hands. He then cried out as the princess fired a beam of energy that engulfed him and his two monsters, destroying them and draining the last of his life points. When the light from the blast faded, Saria let out a sigh of relief as Joey got up to his knees and she could see his eyes had reverted back to normal. Saria changed back to her street clothes and walked up to the duelist.

"Are you OK Joey?" Saria asked.

"Yeah, but I got a splitting headache," Joey replied.

"You should feel worse considering the attack that just knocked you around."

"Don't go there."

"Sorry. Right now, I have to do something I should've done when I entered the room." Saria looked to the black orb in the alcove and loaded a Light Arrow into her bow and fired it at the orb, shattering it. Saria and Joey watched as the blue energy that surrounded the orb shriveled and faded.

"The blue barrier is dispelled," Saria declared, turning to her friend, "Lets go back to the foyer and wait for the others."

"I guess. What's been goin' on? What have I missed?" Joey asked curiously.

"I'll explain when we get back to the foyer."

MEANWHILE...

"Now Serenity," Ashley began, drawing a card, "I sacrifice my Gerudo Spear Guard in order to summon Gerudo Paladin (2300/1600) in attack mode." Ashley's new monster was also a Gerudo warrior but it held two scimitars and was garbed in white so only its hazel eyes showed.

"Now, I play my facedown Monster Reborn and resurrect my Gerudo Spear Guard!" Ashley added, her soldier returning to the field, "And when Gerudo Spear Guard and Gerudo Paladin are in play, I can summon from my hand, Gerudo Archer (1500/1500)." Serenity watched as a Gerudo guard bearing a bow and arrow set appeared next to the two other Gerudo monsters.

"You have three monsters now!" Serenity gasped.

"Yes, and now I'll play..." Ashley began, reaching for the Evil's Summoning Ritual card when it began to glow a fierce red. Ashley held it up.

"What's going on with my card?" She wondered.

Child of Power, because you are pure of heart, I grant you the true power of the cards you now hold. Came the voice of a female in Ashley's head.

The true power of the cards?

Yes. Because you are not evil, you cannot control an evil card so therefore, change the card by sacrificing the three monsters you control now. Summon the King of Light! Ashley nodded, grabbing the ritual monster in her hand.

"Serenity! I sacrifice all three of my monsters using the power of the new ritual card: King's Redemption Ritual!" Ashley shouted, playing one of the two glowing cards. The two girls watched as Ganondorf appeared on the field, kneeling. It was then golden beams of light fired out from underneath Ganondorf and enveloped him and Ashley's three monsters. Then in a flash of white light, Ashley's three monsters vanished completely and Ganondorf rose from his kneeling position except he had changed. His black armor was now a bright yellow and instead of one large broadsword, he now held two jeweled scimitars.

"What is that?" Serenity gasped.

"Serenity, behold the power of the King of Light, Envoy of Power (5000/5000)!" Ashley replied, her monster's gold eyes eyeing Serenity, "King of Light, Envoy of Power! Attack Serenity's defensive monster with crescent light blade attack!" Serenity stood unwavering as the king swung both of its swords, firing two crescent beams at Serenity's monster. Just before the beams hit, Serenity's monster revealed itself, the monster was nothing but a shadow.

"Sorry to disappoint you Gerudo! But you just attacked my Dark Shadow Soul (0/2000)!" Serenity said, "My monster can't be destroyed by an attack because it can dodge any attack fired at it!" Serenity's words were born out as the shadow dispersed just before the attack connected. But the shadow didn't come back.

"Hey! My Shadow! What happened to it? It's supposed to reform after being attacked!" Serenity explained, looking around the room for her monster.

"I'm afraid to say that my new monster has the power to destroy any monster and send them to the graveyard regardless of any special abilities they may have so your shadow can't reform itself," Ashley explained, grinning from her perch, "And now, I'll set one last card facedown and let you take your last turn!" Serenity couldn't help staring nervously at her opponent's monster and card.

She's established the perfect defense. There's nothing I can do. Serenity realized, the spell over her weakening. She clutched her head as she began to struggle for control of her mind and body.

"Ashley! I do... nothing this turn!" Serenity declared, falling to her knees.

"Serenity! Are you there?" Ashley called.

"Yeah, but I can't... Agh! Hurry! Attack me! Set me... free!" Ashley nodded.

"King of Light, Envoy of Power! Attack Serenity's life points directly! Set her free from the dark magic that controls her!" Ashley commanded. Serenity glared as the king fired a beam of light at her, knocking her flat and shattering a hidden barrier of darkness that had surrounded Serenity, revealing the new pink robe and slippers she had on. Ashley then jumped down from her fortress and rushed to her friend's side, the holograms vanishing.

"Serenity! Are you OK?" Ashley asked. Serenity pushed herself up and let Ashley help her up.

"Uh huh. Yeah, I'm OK, just a little exhausted," Serenity admitted as Ashley pulled out the Light Arrow she had received from Saria, "What's that?" Ashley walked up to black orb, arrow in hand and stuck it in the orb, shattering it and dispersing the red energy barrier.

"Don't worry about it. Lets head back to the foyer and I'll catch you up on the situation," Ashley sighed, not looking forward to going back through the mummies.
