You Love Her So

You love her.

He stopped. What?

You love her. Her who? You know who. I do not. Her. Who! Her! I don't love anyone. Yes, you do. No, I don't. Yes, you do. No, I don't! Yes, you do! I don't! You do! You love her. What part of "I don't love anyone" do you have a problem with? The part where you're obviously in denial. I am not. You are. Not! Are too. You've been in love with her for a while now. I haven't been in love with anyone, ever! You should really stop lying to me. I already know. You don't know anything! I do. You're the one that doesn't know. I know plenty! You don't know you're in love. That's because I'm not. Yes you are. It's obvious to everyone...except you. I don't know what you're talking about. You do too, but just for clarification, we're talking about who you love. How many times do I have to tell you I don't love anyone! Until you realize that you're wrong. And before you say it, yes you are. Open up those eyes boy. Here's your chance, better take it while you can. There are plenty of other men lining up to take your chance. ...I don't know who or what you're talking about. You must be the most stubborn fool on the face of the planet. Wake up! I'm talking about your girl here. Hermione? Should ring a bell there, eh? Remember her? Sit with her at meals, have your classes together, study in the library with each other, sitting in front of the fire with her, Her-mi-o-ne. You love her. I do not. Yes you do! I do not. Why are you being so difficult? Listen here. Yes you do. You've been in love with her for a long while now, and I am tired of you making us miserable. Just admit it already you selfish git and get it over with. Or better yet, ask your best mate, even he's bloody noticed. The entire house has noticed, for that matter the whole school has noticed. I bet even Binns knows. ...Ron knows? Have I mentioned you're an idiot?

"Harry?" Hermione's soft melodic voice interrupted his inner debate.

Harry's head snapped up at the sound of her voice. His eyes quickly scanned over her to make sure she was all right before focusing on her eyes. He gave her a lop-sided grin. She smiled back. His heart started thumping again his chest and he was quite sure she could hear it.

"Everything all right," she questioned in a gentle understanding tone. She understood. She understood that he didn't always want to talk, didn't always want to answer questions. She understood him. She understood. She understood everything.

"I love you."

Harry blinked, shocked at himself. Where did that come from? Panic set in right after that thought. I should apologize! His inner self groaned disparagingly. "I –"

"I love you too." Hermione smiled back at him again.

"No. Hermione, I love you." Harry insisted.

"I know Harry. And I love you too."

Harry rose to his feet to stress his point. "Hermione! I love you! I mean love-love!"

"Harry," she laughed, "I know! And I love you too." He stared at her. "Now, stop making a scene and sit back down. We have to finish our assignment." Her eyes twinkled as she spoke to him.

He sat back down rather dumbstruck. "What do you mean a scene?" Hermione only smiled and motioned behind her. Harry turned to look behind him. All of the Gryffindor common room stared back. "Oh...I see." He turned back to Hermione and his work.

After all, she understood.

Special Thanks:

- To Laura, for being slightly insane (it must be the medicine), pointing out my huge gaping mistakes, and actually liking this story for once...I realize you're terribly ill. I'm hope you get better soon, but I hope the being nice to my stories lasts.

Disclaimer: All the characters contained in this story belong to JK Rowling, not me...however much I'd rather it be the other way around.
