Bart woke up to his alarm clock buzzing. 10:00 A.M. sharp. It was Saturday morning. He called Lisa, wondering if she'd even be home. But the phone rang before he could call her.
Bart: Hello?
Lisa: Hi Bart....
Bart: Hi Lisa.
Lisa: I wanna tell you what the secret is so badly.
Bart: Why don't you tell me then?
Lisa: Okay, but you didn't hear it from me. Laura is engaged too. To a man named Jason Adams.
Bart froze. He didn't feel like talking. He didn't feel like moving, or even breathing.
Bart: When did you talk to her?
Lisa: She called me on my call phone on Tuesday. And I can understand why she didn't tell you.
Bart's heart broke. He found out what they were keeping from him. But the only way to go Laura back, is bringing back her childhood memories with him. Lisa and Bart hung the phone.
MONDAY
Laura woke up and went to work. A normal Monday. But not so normal when her office phone rang.
Lady at desk: Laura, theres a call for you on line 1.
Laura switched lines.
Laura: Hello?
Bart: Hi Laura. This is Bart.
Laura sat without saying a word.
Bart: Congratulations on your engagment.
Laura: You heard?.....
Bart: Yeah.
Laura: I thought you would be jealous?
Bart: I am a little upset. But I can probably never get you back. Your husband-to-be is probably, rich, good looking and doesn't come from an odd family.
Laura: No. Really he's a normal guy. I didn't keep in contact with you when he proposed to me.
Bart: Well, you guys aren't married yet....
Laura: So? Bart! I'm not cheating!
Bart: I didn't plan on it. But you guys could break up? Couldn't you.
Laura: Yeah. But I'm not going to. To tell you the truth Bart, I haven't seen you for several years and I don't like you like you anymore.
