"There, Quigley, do you see the ledge where my left fork is? It's solid enough for both of us to sit for a moment and catch out breath." –page 210 SS
"Maybe they didn't want us to find out about such a dangerous place," Violet said, peering off the ledge, "although if you have to hide a headquarters, it's a beautiful place to do it. Aside from the remains of the fire, this is a very lovely view."
"Very lovely indeed," Quigley said, but he was not looking at the view beneath him. He was looking beside him, where Violet Baudelaire was sitting. –page 211-212 SS
What Was Left Out
Violet looked up and met Quigley's eyes. They both blushed but neither looked away. They contently gazed into each others eyes. Violet shivered, she wasn't sure if it was from the cold or her nervousness.
"Are you cold?" Quigley asked with concern in his voice and eyes. All Violet could do was nod. Quigley moved closer to Violet and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, drawing her even closer to him, she smiled contently. "Is that better?" He asked sweetly.
"Yeah, much better, thank…" Violet's voice caught in her thought. She had turned her head to look at Quigley, only to realize that his face was only inches from her own. She knew what was coming, it's what happened in every romance novel Violet had ever heard of. It was what she hoped would happen since she had first laid eyes on him. Quigley slowly lowered his head, and their lips met.
As soon as Quigley's lips had met hers, everything melted from Violet's mind, Count Olaf, the mysteries of V.F.D., the fact they were sitting on ice on the middle of a frozen waterfall, and even that she was an orphan. It all melted away during that one moment, that one blissful moment.
But, like all moments, it ended and they pulled away, both smiling shyly. "I guess we should start climbing again" Violet said.
"Yeah probably" said Quigley reluctantly pulling away from Violet.
"And promise me this, if you ever need me, just say my name."
"I promise." And that's exactly what he did.
