Chapter Two: She Is Only Lonely
Last Chapter:
'Little...girl...'thought Rin, her heart falling. She had never been spoken to before in such a manner and it was very downtrodden to have the first handsome young man she had ever met to put her in such a state.
"Kagome must have been wrong though. You're not little. I guess if you're no spy for Sesshomaru, you may come with me. What's your name?" the young man asked.
"Rin."
"Rin? That's nice." He said.
"What's yours sir Lord?"
"I'm no lord. That's Inuyasha." He retorted.
"What is your name then sir?"
"Hirugashi. Sota Hirugashi." He said.
The Story Continues...
"Kagome, can you come here please?" called Sota, pushing back the reed mat that was in the doorway of the very large hut.
"Oh hello Sota! I didn't think you'd be back so soon! What do you want?" asked Kagome, coming to look at her little brother. "Oh my. Who are they?"
Rin saw that Kagome looked hardly different from before except she looked older and had a toddler in her arms. Rin smiled eagerly, rushing up to them.
"Wow! He's gotten so big! I wish I could have seen him before!" she gushed.
"Err, do I know you?" asked Kagome.
"Kag, this is Rin." Said Sota. "And her maid Kekki."
"Rin?" said Kagome, blinking. Then it struck her. "Rin as in the girl who was with Sesshomaru? THAT Rin?"
"Yes, that's me. Where is Uncle Inuyasha?" she asked.
"Inuyasha? He went out to patrol the borders." Kagome giggled. "In other words, he wanted a nap. You may wait for him. Sota, don't let her near Yoh."
"This is the Yoh you spoke of?" asked Rin as she and Sota sat down. "Why can't I go near him? He is just a toddler."
"That's the point." Said Sota dryly.
"I don't understand." Said a puzzled Rin as Kekki sat between them.
"Surly you've heard? Asked Sota. "According to some powerful demons, Yoh is one of the most powerful combinations of demon and priestess ever known. We've spent all the years since his birth protecting him."
"But he seems so harmless..." Whispered Rin, glancing at the happy toddler who was playing under his mother's watchful eye.
"Tell that to the last weak demon who thought they could steal him. Before Kagome or Inuyasha had to chance to kill him, Yoh blasted the demon to pieces with one of his blocks."
"My!" gasped Rin. They waited for a while; Sota and Kagome playing with Yoh and Sota giving Kagome the supplies he had pulled from his pack. Rin stared in amazement at the things he gave to her, only half listening to Kekki's lecture about not trusting Sota.
After awhile, Yoh began to toddle towards the door crying:
"Daddy! Daddy!"
"Inuyasha!" said Kagome happily, rushing outside to meet her mate.
"How have you been Yoh?" asked Inuyasha, lifting the little boy into his arms. The boy's tiny dog-ears twitched and his amber eyes shone in happiness. His dark blue Fire Rat kimono swirled around him as Inuyasha twirled him up in his arms.
"Whose that?" Inuyasha asked, hugging Yoh closer.
"Hello Uncle Inuyasha. My name is Rin." Said Rin meekly bowing.
Inuyasha stared at her.
"Sesshomaru's Rin?"
"Yes!" said Rin.
'My, this is getting quiet annoying. There is only one Rin they know I suppose.' She thought.
"Well, as long as she stays away from Yoh, you can stay as long as you can. Not everyone that is connected with Sesshomaru is heartless." Said Inuyasha.
"I have no intention of hurting your son!" protested Rin.
"Whatever. Kagome, did Sota bring more ramen? I'm hungry!"
"Of course he did!" chuckled Kagome. "Rin, would you and your friend like some?"
"Yes!" said Rin.
"No." said Kekki.
"Oh my." Responded Kagome.
"Kekki, if you do not wish to eat, you don't have to. I came to visit Uncle Inuyasha and I want to stay." Said Rin.
"But Lord Sesshomaru," started Kekki.
"He can wait." Said Rin, sitting down with Kagome. "May I help?"
"Of course! Here, can you open these?"
Rin nodded and opened the orange packets Kagome handed her. "Noodles." She said. Kagome nodded with a smile.
As Rin helped Kagome, Inuyasha played with Yoh and soon another voice rang out.
"Inuyasha, Kagome are you here?"
"Sango! Miroku!" said Kagome happily. "Come in!"
"Sangy! Moku!" cried Yoh.
"Hello!" said Rin. "I remember you too!"
"Is that Rin?" asked Miroku.
"It is!" gasped Sango.
"Shut up! Let's eat!" cried Inuyasha. "Where are Hajime and Nodaka?"
"They are at a friend's house." Said Sango.
"All these humans," snarled Kekki. "Lady, I'm going outside."
"See you in a while Kekki." Said Rin with a smile.
Sango and Miroku joined them and Rin took the bowl that Kagome handed her. She smelt it's sweet aroma and took the chopsticks that where with the bowl. Slowly eating it, her eyes widened and she happily at the ramen.
"This is very good!" she gasped.
"Its just instant." Said Sota.
"What's that?" asked Rin.
"Never mind. Kagome I hafta go. I'll be back tomorrow okay?"
"Sure."
"Um, Aunt Kagome, Uncle Inuyasha? Would it be alright if I came back as well?"
Inuyasha exchanged wary glances with Kagome who nodded. Sighing Inuyasha said:
"Fine. Do what you want."
Rin gasped in delight and rushed over to hug him. She did, careful to avoid his arms so she didn't spill ramen over herself. "Oh, thank you! Thank you!" she cried. She hugged Kagome too, who just patted her back and Rin stepped in front of Yoh, keeping her distance. She smiled and waved her fingers at him and Yoh smiled.
She did not hug Sango and Miroku, not having any relation to them, but latched onto Sota who squirmed away.
"I will see you tomorrow!" she cried, rushing out. The sun had set now and Rin and Kekki speed off back towards the palace.
"Well, she was nice." Said Sango.
"Too grabby if you ask me." Grumbled Sota.
"She's just lonely. She must not meet too many people her own age if she lives with Sesshomaru." Said Kagome, taking Yoh into her arms as he began to stack a few blocks with the characters for "baby," "boy," "mother," and "father" on them with his powers.
"She can be lonely somewhere else. I don't like girls grabbing me." Sota retorted.
"What about Kasumi? Doesn't she hug you?" asked Inuyasha.
"Yah, but I mean girls who are connected to our enemies." Said Sota, getting up. "I'll see you tomorrow Kag. I won't stay long if Rin's coming though."
Kagome smiled at him and nodded, and off he went into the forest. About to jump in the well he thought:
'Kagome may have abandoned her life to live here, but I have too much going for me. I won't waste my life in a place that doesn't have at least indoor pluming!'

Author's Note:
I just want to let you know that the reason the Inu gang's characters are so downplayed is because they are just background characters. This story is about Sota and Rin remember? And just so everyone knows, Yoh is five and is very capable of saying words.
