Chapter Three: The Unexpected Comes Knocking
Last Chapter:
"I will see you tomorrow!" she cried, rushing out. The sun had set now and Rin and Kekki speed off back towards the palace.
"Well, she was nice." Said Sango.
"Too grabby if you ask me." Grumbled Sota.
"She's just lonely. She must not meet too many people her own age if she lives with Sesshomaru." Said Kagome, taking Yoh into her arms as he began to stack a few blocks with the characters for "baby," "boy," "mother," and "father" on them with his powers.
"She can be lonely somewhere else. I don't like girls grabbing me." Sota retorted.
"What about Kasumi? Doesn't she hug you?" asked Inuyasha.
"Yah, but I mean girls who are connected to our enemies." Said Sota, getting up. "I'll see you tomorrow Kag. I won't stay long if Rin's coming though."
Kagome smiled at him and nodded, and off he went into the forest. About to jump in the well he thought:
'Kagome may have abandoned her life to live here, but I have too much going for me. I won't waste my life in a place that doesn't have at least indoor pluming!'
The Story Continues...
"Where were you Rin?" asked Sesshomaru as Rin and Kekki walked back to her room. Sesshomaru stood in the middle of the hall, Jaken by his side. Rin stopped.
"I went for a run Lord Sesshomaru." Rin replied. "I hope you weren't worried."
"Not really. Kekki was with you. Now, it's getting late so off to bed with you. I have some important guests coming tomorrow. Lord Shigure and his son, Keiichi. I want you to be well rested."
"Oh, Lord Sesshomaru! Kekki and I made plans already!" Rin pouted.
"Oh, and what are they?"
"To...to...to go running again." Said Rin quietly. She desperately wanted to see Uncle Inuyasha, Aunt Kagome and Yoh again, but especially Sota. Sesshomaru looked at her and sighed.
"You may for the morning, but I want you back here before the sun is the highest in the sky all right? No later."
"Yes Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin cried happily as she hugged him. She would be seeing Sota again! As Rin twirled happily into her room with Kekki following, Sesshomaru smiled. Jaken looked up at his master.
"Eh, Me lord, why did you not question Lady Rin?"
Sighing heavily, Sesshomaru took a few steps forward, back kicked Jaken down the hall and continued walking until he reached his own room. The door shut with a click as Jaken scuttled back down the long hall. He walked into the door and it opened again to let him in.
Rin giggled happily as she bounced on her bed. Hugging her pillow, Kekki rolled her eyes as she combed Rin's hair.
"M'lady, will you please sit still? I do not want to take a single lovely strand of hair off your head." Kekki said in an annoyed tone. Rin bounced a few times more, than tried to sit still.
"I can't sit still! My body feels so giddy and my heart is hammering in my chest! I've never felt so happy!" Rin said happily.
"Oh?" questioned Kekki. "And what made you so happy? Surely not those humans and that half breed?"
"Shut your mouth Kekki!" snapped Rin, her mood changing instantly. "Don't you dare speak like that! And yes, that's why I'm happy. I loved meeting Lord Sota!" Rin flopped back, her head in Kekki's lap. "Kekki, do you think I could ever fall in love?"
Kekki looked down at the young girl she had watched over for so long and smiled in defeat. "I suppose. If you met the right man and I think that is why Lord Sesshomaru had Lord Shigure bring his son with him."
"But Lord Shigure's son is a DEMON. I am a human. Why would he be interested in me?" asked Rin, her eyes showing worry.
"M'lady, I've heard you boast before. You beauty is not something to be taken lightly." Replied Kekki. "Now, to bed with you my darling imp. You have a busy day tomorrow."
"Yes Mother Kekki." Rin teased as Kekki got of the bed and pulled back the covers. Rin crawled under them and Kekki tucked her in. Kissing the top of her forehead, Kekki left to the little room she slept in. Rin snuggled under the covers and watched as the crescent moon shone a small sliver of light into her room.

The next morning Rin sat up and yawned sleepily, spreading her arms out wide to flex her upper back. Pushing strands of hair from her face, she gasped and flew out of bed. She ran and woke Kekki who grumbled and came into Rin's room half asleep. Rin went to the large wooden wardrobe and yanked a cream colored kimono from it. It had blue little flowers stitched into it. Kekki helped her get into it and tie a blue obi around it and fastened it with a cream cord. Rin fidgeted as Kekki combed her hair and Rin had Kekki tie it in a loose braid. Securing it with a ribbon, Rin yanked Kekki down the halls to the dining room.
"My," said Sesshomaru looking up at her with a smile. "And a pretty little daughter I have. You look wonderful Rin. What's the occasion?"
"Nothing much. I felt like dressing up a bit." Rin replied, trying to seem non-obvious that she did it on purpose. She ate her breakfast as quickly as she could and went over to Sesshomaru. Hugging him from behind and around the shoulders, she planted a kiss on his cheek and told him that she and Kekki where going for their run. He nodded and went back to his own meal.
After a matter of a few minutes, Rin had Kekki rush her over to Inuyasha's forest, stopping near the God Tree. Kagome had told her the story of how she and Inuyasha met while they had eaten the day before. Rearranging her kimono so Rin thought it was perfect, she and Kekki headed towards the hut that Inuyasha and his family called home. She stood outside for a moment and cleared her throat.
"Hello?" she called.
"Why hello Rin!" said Kagome, peering out of the doorway. "Good morning!"
"Good morning Aunt Kagome!" Rin said.
"Come in, come in. Have you eaten already?" asked Kagome as Rin entered the hut. Kekki stayed outside and a wonderful smell tickled Rin's nose. Her stomach suddenly became empty.
"No, not yet. Am I imposing on you Aunt Kagome? I hope I'm not." Said Rin meekly.
"Of course not. Inuyasha! Bring Yoh in!" called Kagome to her mate. A grumbled reply came from the next room and Rin looked down at her hands. She fidgeted and finally said:
"Um, Aunt Kagome?"
"Hm?"
"What's it like to be in love?" Rin blurted out, seemingly unable to control the question. She flushed and her gaze went into her lap.
"Haven't you ever been in love before Rin?"
"No." Rin said quietly. "All the men that Lord Sesshomaru has brought over have been too old. He has killed the ones that tried to take me."
"W-what?" asked Kagome, choking on her oatmeal. Rin ate hers slowly and nodded. "You mean...some tried to take you to bed?"
"Yes ma'am." Said Rin quietly. "I heard the servants talking about it. They say I am too pretty. It was my fault that some of Lord Sesshomaru's friend had to meet their ends. I would have rather just had a little baby. Like you have Yoh."
"Rin," said Inuyasha from the doorway. His voice was firm. "You forget everything you just said. It was not your fault. It was the damn demon's fault for being lechers. And there is no thing as being too pretty."
"But...but..."
"And why in the world would you want a baby from one of them Rin? Wouldn't you rather have one with someone you love?" asked Kagome, pulling Yoh into her lap.
"I can't...I never can..." said Rin, her voice shaking. Tears started to spill down her face and dripped onto her hands. "Lord Sesshomaru...he forbade me to fall in love. I can never had a little child like you have Yoh."
Tension hung heavily in the room and Kagome was the first to speak. "To never fall in love?" she said. "Why would he do something like that?"
"B-because he doesn't want me to get h-hurt!" Rin sobbed. Inuyasha walked over to her and hugged Rin to him. She cried for a long while and at one point, Kekki came in. Sensing that Rin did not want to be moved from her uncle's arms she sat against the wall. As time passed, Rin fell into an exhausted sleep. Her chest rose up and down as she was curled up next to Inuyasha.
Sota arrived and looked at her.
"What the heck is wrong with her?" he asked.
"She's sad." Said Kagome.
"'Bout what?" asked Sota.
"Sesshomaru forbade her to fall in love and some of the servants up at his palace gave her the idea that Sesshomaru had to kill some of his quests because they tried to rape her because she was 'too pretty.' Stupid bastards." Grumbled Inuyasha.
"What?" asked Sota in a loud voice. Kagome shushed him. He continued in a quieter tone. "You can't control someone's heart!"
"Well," said Kagome. "That won't stop Sesshomaru from trying."
"But to never fall in love?" said Sota. "That's way too hard to imagine. Everyone falls in love at some point."
"Speaking of love, how is Kasumi doing?" asked Inuyasha with a sly tone. Sota blushed. Rin had one eye open and no one saw it since she was facing the wall.
'Who is...' she thought. 'Kasumi?'
"She's fine. Loved the Valentine's gift I gave her. D'yah like yours 'Gome?" said Sota happily.
"Inuyasha's romantic when he want so to be." Was her reply.
"Bet ya got a nice night then huh Inuyasha?" said Sota with a smirk on his face. Kagome threw one of Yoh's blocks at his head. It bounced off and he rubbed his forehead. He laughed and Rin's heart jumped. His laugh was so...beautiful! Wanting to hear a bit more about this "Kasumi" person, she stayed still.
"Doesn't she wonder where you go off on the weekends?" asked Kagome. "You certainly can't tell her. She won't believe you."
"She's starting to get annoyed at me. I told her it's a secret and she wouldn't believe me if I told her. Then she told me to SHOW her." Said Sota.
"You're not acting thinking about it are you?" asked Inuyasha.
"Well duh," was Sota's sophisticated reply. "I can trust her. I'll probably bring her around the day after tomorrow."
"Lady Rin," interrupted Kekki. "Are you awake?"
Rin stayed still and gave a sleepy moan and slowly sat up. "What's it Kekki?" she said in a "sleepy" daze.
"We have to leave now if we are to get back to Lord Sesshomaru and his quests. Remember, he wants you to meet Lord Shigure's son." Said Kekki, getting up.
"Whose son?" Kagome asked.
"Lord Shigure is the lord to the south." Said Inuyasha. "He and Sesshomaru are allies."
"Yes, they are coming by today. I am sorry that I must leave. Would it be all right if I came tomorrow?" asked Rin, bowing slightly. She glanced at Sota who was staring at the wall.
"You can come any day you like Rin." Said Kagome.
"Keep yourself out of trouble and remember what I told you." Said Inuyasha. Rin smiled and hugged him. She then hugged Kagome and waved her fingers at Yoh who giggled. She clasped onto Sota who squirmed like before but stayed put. She gave him an extra tight hug, wishing she could stay against his body forever. Finally and unwillingly, she let go and she and Kekki returned to the palace.
"She's one sly little girl." Said Inuyasha.
"Huh, what do you mean?" asked Sota.
"Oh nothing." Said Inuyasha smiling. He thought the next bit to himself. 'Except she's a very good actress about being asleep.'
~*~
"Lord Sesshomaru, are you in here?" asked Rin, peeking into his study. He was sitting on a chair facing a glowing demon and a young man.
"Come in Rin," said Sesshomaru. "Lord Shigure, this is my daughter Rin."
"Ah, yes. I remember you. Quite a way you have with getting past the guards." Said Lord Shigure. Rin flushed and hopped that Lord Sesshomaru did not take that as a way it wasn't supposed to.
"She's quite handy with a sword." Said Sesshomaru. "You may sit down Rin. This is Lord Shigure's son, Keiichi. They have a very special purpose for being here today."
"More...papers?" questioned Rin.
"No Rin. Lord Shigure and I think that it's in all of ours best interest if you and Keiichi were mated." Said Lord Sesshomaru.
Rin shot out of her seat, eyes wide. "M-mated?" she stuttered. She looked at the young man sitting across from her and he seemed so...boring compared to Sota. She gasped then slowly sat back down, shamefaced. She felt Sesshomaru staring at her and glanced at him. He looked away.
"Please excuse her, it's shock." He said. Rin could pick up the small tinge of worry in his voice, but she doubted that Lord Shigure or Keiichi could. It took her forever to learn to read his voice.
"So it's settled." Said Lord Shigure. "It will be pleasant having you as a relative Lord Sesshomaru. Keiichi, you stay here for a few days to help your new father-in-law. I'll be back at the end of the week for him and then we can finish the plans."
"I shall see you then. Kekki, will you please escort Rin and Keiichi to their room?" asked Lord Sesshomaru as Lord Shigure left.
"Room? Not rooms?" asked Rin.
"I never explained before Rin, so I will sum it up now. Before a demon is mated, they sleep in the same room, in the same bed. This helps the bond between them grow very strong. However, no actually mating would take place until after the ceremony." Said Lord Sesshomaru.
Rin clasped her hands together to keep them from shaking. She was almost positive that Sesshomaru could scent her fear. She nodded and Kekki took them to Rin's room. Keiichi sent Kekki away as she laid out Rin's sleeping things and sat on the bed. He looked at Rin who stood meekly by the opposite side of the bed, looking at the carpet.
"You can stop shaking." Keiichi said. "I won't hurt you."
"Um, sir. That's not it."
"Oooh." Said Keiichi. "You don't want to be mated to me?"
"I..."
"Its understandable, not most little human girls could handle loving a demon. I think you could manage." He said. "But I'll be gentle none the less. You can get unchanged now."
"Could...could you..."
"Not look?"
"Yes sir."
"Nope." Was Keiichi's reply. "Suck it up."
Quivering, Rin kept her back to him at all times while she undressed and slipped on her sleeping kimono. She sat down on the bedside opposite to him and placed her hands between her knees. Keiichi crawled over to her and sat behind her, his legs outside of hers hanging over the edge. He slowly undid Rin's braid, running his fingers through her hair. She shivered and he wrapped his arms around her, just above her breasts.
"Are you cold?" he asked softly in her ear.
"N-no." Rin replied.
"Let's go to sleep shall we?" asked Keiichi. He flopped back on the bed with Rin still in his arms and turned to look at her. She was biting her lip. "You're scared aren't you?"
"M-may we please go to sleep now?" asked Rin.
"What's the rush?"
"I'm very tired."
"Fine." Said Keiichi. "To bed then." He leaped up with Rin still in his arms and pulled back the covers. He laid Rin under and lay next to her, an arm around her waist. He closed his eyes and was asleep in a matter of minutes. Rin did not dare move his arm for fear of waking him and after a long while, finally went to sleep herself.

Author's Note:
Eeee, I didn't mean to make the chapter this long. It's nine pages on Microsoft Word! Just a note, not all chapters will be this long. They will usually be about 5 to 7 pages on word.
IN CAPS SO THAT MEANS IT'S IMPORTANT. THE NEXT CHAPTER IS THE REASON THAT THIS STORY IS RATED R AND HINTS OF STUFF IN LATER CHAPTERS ALSO CONTRIBUTE.
