Title: Wanting
Rating: PG
Summary: Sawyer explores his feelings for Shannon
Sawyer didn't reckon he had a type, but if he did, Shannon was not it.
He wasn't shy. Yeah, he'd had a lot of girls grace his bed. Usually, it was some Northerner, drooling over his accent and begging him to put on a cowboy hat. If not, it was a lonely local girl, stricken over finding her husband screwing the help and wanting some solace.
He never came across anyone so difficult though. So selfish, spoiled, whiny, annoying, and cute all at the same time. Despite his gentlemanly upbringing, he felt the urge to slap her once in awhile. Just to bring her into the real world. Where money didn't buy everything and every man wouldn't drop to his knees before you if you starved yourself to be a size 0. But then he also felt the need to protect her. To make sure she knew he'd be on his knees even when she ate McDonald's every day.
At first glance, he wouldn't even consider her. He wanted to be nowhere near her. To her, he was just a poor hick from the sticks. She didn't fawn over him; she wasn't intrigued by his Southern accent or deep tan and muscles. She disliked him and looked down upon him and tried to act as if he would never have a chance with someone like her.
Maybe that's what made Sawyer want her even more.
