Chapter Twelve: The Aches of a Heart (Part Two): A Deal Between Evils!
Last Chapter:
Kagome appeared next to Inuyasha and said quietly, "Kasumi, what Sota is saying is true. I live in the Sengoku period with Inuyasha. He's my husband and he really is a half demon. And this is our son Yoh. Sota's told you about Yoh before right? He's not making this up to ditch you for Rin. I think you need to hear him out about her."
Kasumi stared at Kagome, then at Inuyasha and finally let her eyes rest on Sota. She sat back down. Sota did so too and told her just about everything. Kagome and Inuyasha had stayed, listening to everything that Sota said.
"But...but why are you leaving me for her? You met her such a little time ago." Sobbed Kasumi. "Its like Romeo and Juliet!"
"I can't explain why I feel this Kasumi, but I just do. I love her." Said Sota quietly.
"I see, well...I-I'll be leaving then. Good-bye Sota." Said Kasumi with a shuddering voice. Mascara was running down her cheeks just as abundantly as her tears. With out another word Kasumi let the door shut with a loud bang and Yoh hugged onto Inuyasha flattening his little ears against his head, mumbling about loud noises.
Sota sank down into the couch and put his head in his hands. "That is the hardest thing I've ever had to do." He muttered.
"Don't worry, you'll have Rin back soon. It's too late today but we'll go get her tomorrow all right?" said Kagome coming down and sitting next to him, rubbing his back. Sota gave a tiny nod and sighed. Kagome was right. Rin would soon be back in his arms and that thought alone made all the difference in the world.
The Story Continues..."Lord Sesshomaru, you promised that we would go to see Sota today!" whined Rin as she clutched onto her father's arm as he sat in his study.
"I know Rin, I know. But this calls for my attention and it is past sundown all ready. I will have to break my promise and take you tomorrow. Why don't you back and get some sleep hm? It will do you some good." Said Lord Sesshomaru, only glancing at his daughter then going back to the scrolls in front of him.
Rin pouted and sighed, her heart falling heavily but muttered a good night and kissed Sesshomaru on the cheek. Just as she opened the door of the study to leave, Sesshomaru said:
"The faster that you fall asleep dear Rin, the faster tomorrow will come and the faster that you can see your love again."
Rin smiled and dashed off to her room, jumping into her bed, sighing happily. She had spent the entire day waiting and waiting for Sesshomaru to take her back through the well. Sango and Miroku had come to visit and to talk to him about something but Rin didn't know what. Sesshomaru had kept disappearing the entire day and would come back looking a bit tired.
'I wonder if Keiichi was sending spies after me?' thought Rin. 'That would explain a few things. Oh Sota! I want to be back in your arms this very minute!'
Rin then got up and changed from her kimono into her sleeping on, she heard a soft thunk against the window. Securing the ribbon around her waist, Rin went over to the window to see a small pebble bounce off of it. She looked down to see the silhouette of a young man with ebony black hair...and strange clothes! Rin yelped happily and threw the windows open, rushing onto the balcony.
"Oh Sota! I didn't think you'd come for me!" Rin said happily. Sota held up his arms and said simply:
"Ta da."
"Give me a second I'll be right down!" said Rin giddily. Closing the windows and waving at Sota, Rin threw a thin shawl on and quietly closed her door. Rin snuck around corner and ran out of the kitchen door to the courtyard under her window. Sota opened his arms to her and Rin ran right into them.
"I've missed you so much Sota! Lord Sesshomaru said he would take me to see you this morning but things kept getting in the way! It fells so good to have you hold me again!" said Rin happily into Sota's chest.
"I'm glad. Rin?" asked Sota in a soft voice into her ear. "Do you love me?"
A blush sprang to Rin's cheeks and she hugged him tighter. "I do. Do you love me?" asked Rin.
"Of course." Said Sota lifting her head to his. He wrapped a hand around the back of her head and brought his own face a bit closer to hers. Rin closed her eyes and waited, and felt Sota's soft and warm lips brush against her own. Rin pushed herself against his chest and she kissed him deeply.
Sota held Rin in his arms for a good full few minutes and released her. He shuddered against her and Rin looked at him with a confused face. "Is something wrong Sota?" Something twinkled in his eyes. "S-Sota?"
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine. How about another kiss?" he said in a low voice.
"Um, before I do that...can I ask you something?" said Rin, glancing away from him.
"What Rin?"
"Did you leave Kasumi?" asked Rin quietly. "Did you leave her for me?"
"Kasumi...hen." Said Sota. "Do you really need to ask me if I left her for you?"
"Yes, I do." Said Rin more firmly. "I don't want to be with you unless you truly want to be with me and only me!" Rin backed away a bit from Sota.
"Rin, I don't want to be with anyone else but you." Said Sota. He held out his arms again and Rin slowly came back into his arms again. Rin kissed him again and Sota whispered into her ear with a loving tone.
"I wonder if the rest of you tastes just as good..."
Rin's eyes snapped open and pushed him off.
"What's wrong Rin? Are you all right?" asked Sota.
"Stay away from me!" she shouted. Sota took a few steps toward her. "Show it to me! Show me the twig that channels your power! You always have it! If you don't, then you aren't Sota!"
Sota patted his back pockets with a bit of panic overcoming his face. Rin didn't need any more of a signal than that. She started running back towards the palace but suddenly Sota appeared right in front of her and something connected with her face. Rin was knocked to the ground and she stared up at "Sota" only to find Keiichi was now in his place. Her eyes widened as he knelt next to her and grabbed a fistful of her hair to make her look at him.
"Those in love are so easy to trick. What a feeble mind you Rin. You should have known better than to rush off into your lover's arms when he appears in the middle of the night. That's how little girls get hurt." He said in a husky voice to her. Rin grabbed his hand and tried to yank it away from her hair.
Keiichi just laughed and brought something heavy towards her. Rin felt only a very sharp pain and didn't have time to scream before unconsciousness over took her. Keiichi gathered her into his arms and in a sudden flash of bright light was gone...
Kasumi opened her bedroom window and let the cool night air rush in. She glanced at her clock that sat on her bedside stand. The neon green numbers glowed "12:05 PM." Kasumi sighed, her eyes aching from crying. How could Sota leave her for that little witch? Kasumi thought, 'I mean, she was sooooo old!'
'How could Sota honey prefer a little old biddy to me? It doesn't make sense,' Kasumi continued as she leaned out the window. 'We've been together for three years! We've been friends for nearly six! Why would you go and destroy all that for HER Sota honey! What does she have that I don't!'
"What does she have...that I don't...?" Kasumi repeated out loud. She sniffed and put her head against the cool glass and glanced out the open part of the window. Kasumi shrieked.
"It's not your fault I would say," said Keiichi. "The Hirugashi family has always had a nice little thing for really old dead people. Well, sort of dead. You know what I mean."
"W...who...?"
"Please to meet you Lady Kasumi, my name is Keiichi. From what my little spies have told me you know who I am correct?" said Keiichi almost merrily.
"You want to hurt Sota honey and you want to do it through me! It won't work!" snarled Kasumi. Keiichi just laughed.
"Silly girl, so naïve and self-centered. I could care less about what Sota does about you. That's your affair. No, I am not after him. I have no need to be after him anymore. I got what I wanted and I am here to see if you would like to join me in my little scheme."
"Got what you wanted...?" trailed Kasumi. "You kidnapped Rin?"
"Clever aren't you?" chuckled Keiichi, sitting on the inside of the window. "Yes, I went back to the Sengoku period and snatched her right out from her demon father's nose. I should say he would be quite upset. Stupid bastard."
"So what do you want from me?" asked Kasumi, lowering her eyes.
"Do you want Sota back?" asked Keiichi standing. He folded his arms and stared at Kasumi. "I can make it so that we both get what we want. You can have Sota fall madly in love with you all over again and I...well I get the beautiful Rin."
"What could I possibly do?" asked Kasumi.
"Oh it's quite simple really." Said Keiichi. "All you have to do is distract Sota's little demon fighting family and make sure that only he gets to me. After I am done with him, he will belong only to you and no one else. When Rin sees how easily I turned his heart away from her, she will be more willing to accept the inevitable. That we were meant to be together just as you and Sota are."
"How am I supposed to fend off his family? I'm no demon!" protested Kasumi.
"That is another good thing about my clever and brilliant mind. Sota may have told you what is going on at this moment, but he never told you his sister's story about how she met Inuyasha." Said Keiichi slyly.
"Kagome?" repeated Kasumi. "What about Kagome?"
"When Kagome was 15 she first stumbled down the well and met Inuyasha. Their story is much to long to explain so I will give you the short version. Inuyasha used to be in love with a little bitchy priestess named Kikyo and thanks to a human named Onigumo turned demon and called himself Naraku, they were thought to betray each other. Naraku also hurt the monk Miroku and the demon hunter Sango and they met up with each other. They sought to kill Naraku who wanted to get his hands on this," explained Keiichi.
He held up a little round marble. The Jewel of Four Souls was what he held in his hand.
"What's that?" asked Kasumi, sitting down on her bed.
"The Jewel of Four Souls." Replied Keiichi. "Naraku wanted it, to become powerful. When he was defeated however by the small group, they took it and used it to restore Lord Sesshomaru's left arm, which had been severed off by Inuyasha some time before. They left it in the care of Lord Sesshomaru and I nicked it while I went to get my dear sweet Rin. It can help you become powerful and drive Sota's family off. Your victory is assured. The question is...do you want it? Will you be able to hurt them?"
Kasumi looked at the Jewel that Keiichi held in his hands. She held out her hand almost instantly. "Give it here." She said quietly, an almost evil look over coming her face.
"I knew you'd accept. Welcome." Said Keiichi, extending his hand. Kasumi snatched up the Sacred Jewel.
"Let's get started shall well?" she said with a cheerful disposition.

Author's Note:
I hope you don't consider this a cliffy because it really isn't or at least I think so. Kasumi seems to have a double personality that starts to intertwine now that she's met Keiichi. I don't really have anything else to say today except sorry for shortness.
Review or be a minion to Keiichi!
