Chapter Fifteen: Demise of Whom?
Last Chapter:
"Stop is Sota! Stop it, stop it!" Rin cried silently as he continued to attack her father. "Why are you doing this?"
"SHUT UP!" he screamed at her. Rin snapped her mouth shut. More tears sprung to her eyes. Then they widened and she gasped.
'How was he able to hear me? I can't speak out loud...' she thought in a frenzy of confusion. 'If only Kagome was here!'
"Rin!" shouted Sesshomaru. "Come! Let's go get Kagome!" Rin started to run to her father, stretching her hand out, Yoh hugging onto her, babbling about he wanted his blocks from back home. Sesshomaru zoomed away from Sota and latched onto his daughter, zooming away from the shrine. The demon lord hugged both his daughter and his small nephew.
Rin started to cry as they left, her tears making quite a wet spot on Sesshomaru's tattered clothing. What spell was possibly being used on Sota? How could she save him? She tried to speak...tried to utter one word.
"S-s-sot-t-ta."
The Story Continues...
Sota watched angrily as Keiichi disappeared with Rin and Yoh in his arms. All that was left was Sesshomaru's tattered and bloody body. He growled and set out for the direction they had left in. There was no way in hell he would let Rin or Yoh become Keiichi's! He was sure that Rin was under some sort of spell; even Yoh might have been as well! Sota needed to find Kagome and ask for her help. Sota didn't know how he was going to find her in such a mess, but he knew that he had to...or else Rin might be lost to him forever.
"Sesshomaru!" gasped Inuyasha as he dodged a blow from Kasumi. She laughed and sent some attacks towards Sango and Miroku.
"Get away from her! Run!" shouted Sesshomaru.
"I'm not running from a fight!" came his younger brother's reply.
"Just do it! Get your family and friends away from her! We need a place to talk!" yelled Sesshomaru. He paused for a moment to give Yoh to Kagome and they began to run from Kasumi. She growled and sent power blasts after them, but Inuyasha and Kagome deflected them as they ran. The small group looked exhausted.
Once they were some distance away and behind a cluster of large boulders to hide from Kasumi, Rin tore herself away from her father and began to cry all over again. "What's going on? Where's my brother?" asked Kagome in a shallow voice.
"Something has made the boy mad! He's attacking me instead of Keiichi and he keeps acting like Rin is one of his enemies!" said Sesshomaru.
"Is that true Rin?" asked Sango.
Rin mouthed every word that she thought of and Miroku sighed heavily and muttered a chant and tapped her over the head. Rin felt as though something slimy had slithered down her throat. She coughed and began.
"He's under a spell! I saw, his eyes are glazed over and he's acting totally like a different person!" she wept. "That boy is not my Sota! Something is horribly, horribly wrong with him!"
"Perhaps its some illusion spell?" asked Sango.
"It could be. Did Keiichi say anything at all? Did he look any different?" asked Kagome.
"His eyes...they did look a bit different. But that's about it." muttered Sesshomaru as Yoh shifted from his mother to his father. "I told the boy it was a mistake to bring the child along. He's been no help."
"Sesshomaru...I may have an idea. What kind of demon is Keiichi again?" asked Kagome.
"What does that have to do with anything?" snapped Inuyasha. "He's a demon that is hurting out family! I say we just go kill the little bastard."
"Sit."
-Thunk! -
"Ow! Kagome!"
"No wonder you guys don't know anything about this. It's undiscovered in your time. People from my era called scientists discovered who knows when that light affects what we see. All the colors and that; Keiichi must have some way of manipulating what Sota is seeing!" she said, wiping her forehead.
The group looked exhausted. Kasumi had done a very good job of keeping them occupied. "But...how do we save him?" asked Rin in a tiny voice. "I can't stand just sitting here and doing nothing anymore! I was not raised like this!"
She sprinted away from the group, ignoring all protests and grabbed a glittering sword from on of the dead demon bodies. "There you are you little bitch! I don't care what Keiichi does to me! I want you out of the way!" growled Kasumi, suddenly appearing out of nowhere.
Rin sprinted back over to her family and leaned into her father. She whispered something into his ear and he nodded. "Inuyasha, call her attention. Insult her, anything!" demanded the demon lord, getting his daughter settled on his back.
"What?" exclaimed Inuyasha as they bounded off and out of sight. "Hey! I know why Sota doesn't want you back!"
That certainly got Kasumi's attention. "It was because that you couldn't protect your relationship! You couldn't stop one measly little girl from coming in and stealing his heart away! What kind of girlfriend are you?" Inuyasha shouted at the top of his lungs. He shook his fist at her and made faces as she growled and looked ready to send the biggest attack yet.
She screeched and raised her arms up, but suddenly, gasped loudly and slumped forward, falling out of the air. Sesshomaru and Rin landed right beside her body. "Stupid girl." Sesshomaru muttered. Rin let bloody sword drop from her hands and said in a commanding voice.
"Now, we have to save Sota."
Sota was blasting demons left and right, scouring the battleground for Keiichi and Rin. All he heard were demons searching frantically, shouting and coming forward to attack him. He killed them, the blood splattering everywhere and he skidded to a stop with his eyes wide...
Kagome was lying on the ground, blood seeping into the dirt. Rin and Keiichi were standing over her, a smirk on Rin's face. Inuyasha was holding Yoh, and Miroku and Sango were standing next to him, gazing at the body.
"Now, we have to kill Sota." She said in a ruthless voice. Keiichi tapped her shoulder and pointed.
"I do believe he is all ready here." He said lustfully.
"Sota, just in time. We'd thought you'd run off like a little baby. Your sister has decided not to join us. But I'm afraid you're a little late to say good-bye." Rin laughed. "And now it's time to finish you off!"
She rushed forward with a bloody sword in her hands, a wicked smile on her face, the sword poised to slash into him. Before Sota knew what he was doing, he raised his hand, no Channel, and let a large blast of power smack into Rin's body. She crumpled onto the floor, and lay still.
Tears sprang to Keiichi's eyes. The rest of the group also looked horrified.
"Y-you...what have you done to my daughter?" chocked Keiichi in a sorrowful voice. Sota blinked harshly. Yet the vision of Keiichi was still there, with tears escaping down his cheeks. A malevolent laughter filled his ears and for a second Sota was blinded and his vision slowly returned and he saw the blurry forms of his family before him.
He gazed at Keiichi...who was now Sesshomaru, the dead Kagome who was now Kasumi and the rest of them standing there looking horrified. Sota blinked again confusedly and saw the un-moving body of Rin at his feet, dirt covering her as if had lifted and showered her from the blast. And behind him...behind him...
...was Keiichi, laughing his head off. Sota gazed back at them, his brain registering what had happened.
"N-no...I, I didn't...I thought...Kagome?" he looked at his sister desperately for help. But her face held no comfort, just a look of horror.
"So, Sota. How does if feel to have killed the woman you love?" sniggered Keiichi, walking up and putting his hands on Sota's shoulders. Sota jerked away and Keiichi just laughed and laughed.
"Why!" Sota screamed, "Why do this when you wanted her! Why...why...why make me kill her!"
"Pfft. I wanted her body little man. Her personality does not suit me. The dear Kasumi's was more of my taste. But, I decided, that it was not worth just killing you and taking her. After all, you wouldn't be around to enjoy the torture. So...I killed her instead." Said Keiichi lazily.
-THWANG-
Keiichi gave a scream. Kagome was holding her bow up, and Sota felt a bit of blood trickle down his cheek. Keiichi's arm had come off at his shoulder where the arrow had hit him. He withered in pain, blood pouring out.
"You little bitch!" he shouted.
He got no further than that. Sota leapt up and began to attack him, swinging punches, throwing any blow that he could get in. He felt such an unspeakable anger. The scene of Rin's body lying on the ground played over and over in his mind. He would show no mercy to this demon. He was the cause of Kasumi's death, of Rin's...
"Sota, Sota stop it!" shouted Inuyasha and Kagome as they came forward to hold onto his arms, dragging him off Keiichi's mangled and broken body. Tears were falling heavily from his eyes. Kagome hugged him and held him like a child as he cried. Yoh was safely in Sango's arms and he looked at his mother and uncle in confusion.
Sesshomaru stood before Kagome and Sota, gazing down at them. Sota noticed and pulled away. He stood, wiping away a few of the tears but they were only replaced with more. He looked at the demon lord straight in the eye.
"You can kill me." Said Sota in a wavered voice. There came a great many shout of protests.
Sango handed off Yoh to Inuyasha as one last group of demons rushed forward to try and kill the small group. Sota told them to be quiet. "I deserve to die for what I've done. I attacked you I'm assuming. I...I...k-killed..." he stumbled.
Sota tried to force the words out but was unable to. Sesshomaru picked his hand up and moved it towards Sota who closed his eyes and flinched. But he felt Sesshomaru's hand settle upon his shoulder. Sota opened his eyes and stared at him.
"She did love you." He told the boy. "We will bury here at the palace, you can come whenever you wish."
"Um, I don't think that's a good idea." Said Inuyasha. "You'll be murdering her."
"Inuyasha, what are you talking about, she's dead, I killed her!" protested Sota in painfully agony.
"Then um, why is she moving?" he asked. All heads turned towards Rin. She was no longer lying on the ground. But instead, she was standing, walking slowly towards Sota. An odd light was around her.
"Wha-? Oh my god! Inuyasha, look at Yoh!" said Kagome in alarm. Yoh's hands were also glowing. He was smiling actually and as Rin came to Sota she smiled.
"I knew I could save you." She whispered before her eyes closed again and she fell into Sota's arms.

Author's Note:
This is not, I repeat, not the end of the story. The next chapter most likely will be the end of it.
So, do you think Rin will live or die? I do hope you've enjoyed the story and will look at my other ones because they are feeling neglected. Nyow!
Also, as a note, I'm changing the format of my stories after this one so they will look a bit different. You can see that I've also bolded the AN, as well as the beginning stuff.
Review and read on! Only one chapter left for the chance to do so!
