Confused
"Receiving Sg-1's IDC sir." The airmen announced. "Opening the iris." The iris warped open and all four
Members of SG-1 came tumbling through the gate onto the ramp.
General Hammond walked into the gate room and asked, "What happened Colonel?" The man looked as though he was about to burst into tears right then and there. He was managing to hold them back as best as he could and watched as the medics got Sam ready to head to the infirmary.
"We we're being attacked at base camp and jafa were everywhere and I told her to go and dial the gate and that when one of the blasts hit her. She shouldn't have gone though, I should have been the one to go." He was chocking on tears and even when he talked he didn't take his eyes off her.
Daniel stepped in for him. "We we're being attacked by a group of jafa and when Sam was heading towards the gate she was hit. We somehow managed to get her out of there without being hit ourselves. Jack told Teal'c and I to get tot he gate and hold it open for them."
"Very well. We'll debrief in and hour your dismissed." With that they headed towards the infirmary to see how Sam was doing.
Janet stepped out into the hallway to tell the three men about Sam's condition. "She's stable for now. She's lucky it didn't hit her directly or I don't think she would have made it at all." She turned towards Jack and saw the absolute look of horror on his face. He began to step back towards the wall shaking his head in denial of what she was about to tell him. "Jack, the baby didn't make it." Even Janet was chocked up. Daniel and Teal'c just stood there clueless to what Janet was referring to. They knew that Sam and Jack had been seeing each other for quite sometime seeing as she was no longer a military officer, but a baby?
Jack fell to the floor, and he was crying. Not just a bit and he certainly wasn't putting on any tough soldier act for anyone. He wasn't holding the tears back or anything. His hands went to his head and his head turned back in forth in denial about it. Janet knelt down beside him and put her hands on his arms and got him to look up at her. "Jack listen to me you need to promise me that you won't do anything stupid. Stay right here on the base okay? It's going to be okay." Her voice echoed and seemed muffled to him. It felt like everything was spinning around him. "Jack? Colonel?" Janet used her penlight and shined it in his eyes. "He's in shock! Airmen help me get him to the infirmary."
Jack woke to the sounds of medical equipment making beeping noises and Janet shining a light in his eye once more. He was cold and didn't feel to well either. And for a few moments when he first awoke he forgot everything. But when the realization hit him he was even more agitated then he was before. "Where is she? Is she okay?" He began asking questions like a mad man until Janet stopped him.
"Jack calm down okay. She's fine, a little tired but we gave her some medications so she's sleeping." She gave him a reassuring smile. "It's okay calm down."
"Janet before you told me and Sam that you knew if the baby was a boy or a girl. We didn't want to know then but..." He didn't have to go on.
"It was a boy. I'm sorry Colonel. There was nothing we could have done. In fact the baby saved Sam's life." She saw the look of relief yet sadness on his face.
She lay there feeling tired and cold. Hungry too. She immediately panicked as she remembered what had happened. She tried to sit up but was too weak to do so. "Sam sweaty calm down, its okay just relax." It was Janet's voice. She had such a calm and soothing voice. "I'm going to give you another sedative to help you relax more okay?" Sam just nodded and felt herself becoming more and more tired each second until finally she drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
