Title: When the Rain Would Fall
Chapter 1 - Many Meetings
"Stupid Ron," Hermione uttered to herself walking down the hall toward the library. In her rage she never noticed alone until she was on the floor in a cloud of red hair.
"Hey Hermione," said a familiar female voice. It was Ginny, Ron's little sister.
"Sorry," Hermione said as Luna and another girl helped them to their feet.
"It's okay," Ginny said giggling.
"Who are you?" she said to the other girl, whom on being addressed shifted a little more behind.
"That's a friend of mine," Ginny said shakily, seeming almost scared.
"How come I've never met her before?" Hermione questioned.
"Because," the girl said stepping out from behind Luna, "Ginny don't want her brother or Harry to find out she's friends with a Slytherin."
"I knew they would go on about bad wizards but she one of my best friends," Ginny said a tear sliding down her cheek, "I don't want them to hate me."
"Ginny!" the girl said walking over and pulling her into a hug.
"Come into the library," Hermione said hearing voices coming.
"I don't want to get Ginny in any trouble," said the girl.
"What's your name?" Hermione asked finally getting a good look at this girl, she had elbow length red hair and green eyes, she was devoid of any freckles and looked a lot more womanly then even Hermione herself.
"Violet," the girl said blinking, "Hermione, please don't be mad a Ginny. She and Luna are my only friends. Everyone else hates me."
"Why don't you have any other friends?" Hermione asked and Ginny gave Violet a solemn look.
"The Slytherin's know I'm not like them but everyone else only sees that I'm a Slytherin," she said, "except Ginny and Luna, they gave me a chance."
Hermione thought for a moment and then said, "I'm going to have to make a lair out of you violet." the three girls looked at Hermione in shock and Hermione smiled, "now you have three friends. Unless you have a problem with 'mudbloods'?"
"Of course not!" Violet exclaimed smiling.
"Did I just see Hermione run out?" Harry asked coming down over the stairs.
"Yeah," Ron said not looking up from his book.
"Why did she run out?"
"I said something I shouldn't have," Ron said still not looking up.
"What did you say now?" Harry asked almost laughing.
"It don't matter," Ron said, "why did you leave us alone? I always say the wrong thing when we are alone."
"I know," said Harry laughing.
"It's not funny!" Ron exclaimed turning red.
"Yes it is!"
"Stop it!"
"Okay! Let's go find her so you can say the right thing."
