"Here are the pieces that we are going to play for the season." Mr. Green said. As the pieces were being handed out, I could feel my heart racing. 'Here comes the first one!' I closed my eyes. 'High school music is supposed to be really hard. I hope I don't get lost sightreading it.' When I opened my eyes friendly bean sprouts focused into view. Well, most of them were friendly. 'What? This is high school music?' It was easy enough, I just needed to practice it a few times.
"Where's the new drum major?" Mr. Green asked. 'Drum Major? Who's that? Someone who's going to major in drums?' I had no idea of how marching band works because I have only been in concert bands. Soon enough, I figured that the drum major is the one who conducts the band, but I was still confused.
'The cacophony of sightreading our pieces are about to break the windows in the doors.' I thought. So far, I found out that the best sightreader of the hornline ( I learned this too) was a trumpet player named Tim. 'He's kinda cute, but not that tall.' I never thought about guys before, but I guess I'm growing up.
