Leia sat in the cockpit staring at the stars as they flew past. Twelve hours and they would be at Yavin 4, the rebel base. Although she was looking right at them Leia didn't see the stars. All she saw was blackness ever since she watched Alderaan get blown up. All those people gone just like that, her mother, her friends, her father...Leia's eyes began to fill with tears as she realised she would never see her father again. She had sentenced him to death. What kind of daughter was she? Leia quietly began singing to herself thankful everyone else was asleep.
"Where has the starlight gone?
Dark is the day,
How can I find my way home?
Home is an empty dream,
Lost to
the night,
Father I fell so alone."
Han was walking around the falcon looking for an extra blanket, space was bloody cold. He was about to head back to his cabin when he heard the most beautiful singing coming from the cockpit. Han knew who it was and stopped just out of view to listen to Princess Hardass sing.
"You promised you'd be there,
Whenever I needed you,
Whenever I call your name,
You're not anywhere,
I'm trying to hold on,
Just waiting to hear your voice,
One word just a word will do,
To end this nightmare."
Han didn't know what to say or do so very slowly he made his way into the cockpit.
"When will the dawning break?
Oh endless night,
Sleepless I dream of the day,
When you were by my side,
Guiding my path,
Father I can't find the way."
Leia couldn't stop the tears from falling. She fell to her knees and cried.
"You promised you'd be there,
Whenever I needed you,
Whenever I call your name,
You're not anywhere,
I'm trying to hold on,
Just waiting to hear your voice,
One word just a word will do,
To end this nightmare."
Han decided that now was as good a time as any to make his presence known. Slowly he walked over to Leia and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Princess are you alright?"
Leia looked up quickly, surprised by the intrusion. Seeing who it was, the bucket of bolts' cocky captain, she tried to wipe her eyes.
"Yes Captain I am perfectly fine. I apologise if I woke you."
"It's not you fault you know."
"Yes it is, I should have kept my voice down you need your rest."
"That's not what I meant. You couldn't have known Tarkin was still going to blow up Alderaan."
"I should have done something. They all died because of me!"
Leia burst into tears again and flung her arms around Han's neck. Not knowing quite what to say Han Just held her.
They stayed like that for about an hour until Leia finally pulled back.
"Thank you Captain Solo," she said as she left the cockpit, mentally scolding herself for showing such weakness.
"Anytime Princess," Han said as he sat back in the pilot's chair. "Anytime."
The End
