Title: I've Always Known

Summary: We go back to the time of Nick and Nora, and explore the alternate options Jess was facing. There's no repeating of storylines in here from the show, it's a totally different way of presenting the character. Yeah, the title is cheesy and the 1st chapter might have a hint of cheddar also, but stick with it, it WILL get better! Also if Jess is out of character, he's SUPPOSED to be.

Disclaimer: IT IS NOT MINE. THEY ARE NOT MINE.

On with the story. By the way it's told in Jess's POV!

Chapter One: Take my Photo off the Wall…

There was a framed picture on the mantle. Most people, I guess, keep pictures on their mantle. I never had one. A picture or a mantle, that is. As ordinary as it might be for one to keep a picture on their mantle, this one had nothing ordinary about it.

It had obviously been taken on the front porch. The weather must have been cold because the brunette's angelic face was flushed and she was covered in layers of blankets. Her smile was possibly the most genuine thing I've ever seen. Her eyes were twinkling inhumanly blue.

"Huh," I sighed.

Did I just fall in love with a picture?

I tried to shrug off the absurd thought. I had no idea where it'd come from. I'm not the type of person who normally thinks things like that. Love is a figment of one's imagination, something which I lack. I left the picture on the mantle, watching it as I walked away, as if it would reach out and strike me.

I was completely lost in this small house. I turned to a hallway to my right and went into the first door I saw. The sight before me neglected tp calm my racing heart. There she was. The girl from the picture. She turned towards me, away from the computer screen that had previously captivated her attention.

I'd never seen someone so true in their beauty. She appeared just as in the picture. She spoke; a simple friendly hello. My heart fell to my knees as I replied, "Hey." It wasn't the picture I'd fallen in love with so suddenly. It was the girl.

"I'm Rory."
