Finality
Making a choice of fate, I balk at the task,
Weaving together the life of my daughter
To a mortal king, once my son, or to ask
My Undomiel to live in eternal bliss with her
Memories alone. I cannot separate two that I love,
Not without their suffering, and nothing is worse.
I know the choice I will have to make, above
All else is their happiness, and I would not curse
Their lives to fading misery. I say this with a sigh,
Knowing the pain it shall become to me. I love
Them both enough to overcome my selfishness, and
Now I sit in a once peaceful room filled
With turbulent thoughts. I understand
How love supercedes all else. Their fates are sealed,
Finally, in my thoughts, I rest, knowing
The future contains both hope and death.
