A one-shot inspired by the song "Angel's Wings" by Social Distortion

A NaruxHina pairing because I just wubb Hinata to death, and she needs a big warm hug.

A story that speaks for itself, please read and leave your thoughts :)

And when you're down on your luck,

Hey baby it's a long long way up.

Hold back now,

Hold back your fears.

She looked down at the ramen bowl she'd been carrying a second ago, the content spilled over the sidewalk, the Styrofoam cracked as the amber liquid seeped into the cracks of the pavement, pale noodles staring forlornly back up at her. Why couldn't she do anything right? Her whole life up until now, she'd been a failure, and it only seemed to get worse. Slowly, she slipped to her knees. Losing all control, her hands met the wet cement, her own bitter tears mingling with the remnants of lunch, the cracked bowl standing for so much more than any of the countless uncaring passersby's could ever know.

You say you're really down and out,

And you feel like there's no way out now,

Let go now,

Let go your tears, some more.

She sat there in the noonday sun, the street life passing her by as she contemplated her own worthless existence. Much as she tried, she couldn't keep her shoulders from shaking, couldn't stop the tiny drops of her deep sorrow from leaving her pearl-esque eyes. She was so weak, just so weak. Then suddenly, a hand appeared.

How many times, have you asked yourself,

Is this the hand of fate, that I've been dealt?

You're so disillusioned, this can't be real,

You can't stand, the way you feel.

"Hinata...what's wrong?"

It was him. Suddenly he was there. She didn't know where he had come from, but there he was, right in front of her. The embodiment of all her hopes and aspirations, and as her eyes blurred she felt like disappearing. So weak, and in front of the very person for which she tried to be strong.

"...I...I j-just t-t-try so h-hard...and y-yet..."

I don't care about what they say!

I won't ever, die that way.

Tired of figuring out things, on my own.

Angel's wings, won't you carry me home?

She gasped, what had just happened shocking her to disbelief. Suddenly, she wasn't alone on the sidewalk anymore, he was there with her. He was holding her. Her. His embrace felt so good, so right. She couldn't help but cry anew, only this time, all the sorrow had washed away from her. She felt her wings spread, her spirit soar. "It's okay Hinata, I'm here with you."

I triumphed in the face,

Of adversity.

And I became the man,

I never thought I'd be.

His knees were damp with the liquid contents of the upturned ramen bowl, the tender white noodles crushed into the fabric of his bright orange jumpsuit, but he didn't care. Right now there was nothing that mattered more than bringing a smile to this soft, gentle little creature's face. He'd be damned if she cried alone anymore.

Oh I don't care about what they say,

I'm gonna marry you some day!

Gotta wake up,

It's a brand new day.

She wasn't alone. He was there with her, and she could be strong. As she melted into his warm arms, an indescribable sensation filled the holes in her soul. He'd never understand the gift he'd given her in his simple, genuine gesture...or did he already know?

Angel's Wings gonna carry me away.

It would get better, if they only had faith, and thanks to him, she could be strong.

And when you're down on your luck,

Hey baby it's a long long way up.

Hold back now, hold back your fears.

And when you're really down and out,

And you feel like there's no way out now,

Let go now, let go your tears...

Angel's wings gonna carry me away.
