A/N: Ok, I'm supposed to be working on Balrog Slayer, but I just had to post this. It's a poem about Eowyn reflecting on her thoughts about Aragorn. Pretty much movie-verse. Right after the scene in RotK when Aragorn says, 'It is but a shadow and a thought that you love.' Very good line. Sounded so poetic I had to write a poem off of it. This is one of my favorite poems I've written.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything.
Passing Dreams
With a noble air and a battle fury, you
Captured my heart. You spoke of another,
Said she was leaving. I saw you broken-hearted,
Shattered by a few harsh words, You tried to pull
Yourself together. I perceived you had covered
A pain that pierced deep. Remaining strong, you led
The people of my blood to freedom and victory.
You let the pain drive you, yet not overcome,
A task which has proven to me much too hard
You stirred in me a dormant patriotism, stirring
Up my lifeless soul. You brought me back from
My devastated and hopeless life, which was marred
By too many days gone by without hope or love,
Filled by death and hate. I was lost, and I
Thought I had found a reason, nothing holding me back but scars.
But you said it was not what I imagined, my thoughts above
The truth and lost in dreams, and I sigh
For the lost dreams, but not for the lost lies.
Can I love untruth and blind myself to it?
Do I truly love a shadow of a king in a passing dream?
A/N: My favorite line was the last line. It was very fitting, I think. Please be nice and review!!!
